On 27 February, the new work Shìshēng 势声 · As Sound Splashes premiered at the V&A (
@vamuseum ), London.
A truly magical moment — resonating together in ebb and flow. An energy unlike anything I had felt before.
Thank you to the beautiful crowd, a thousand of you who entered this field with us.
It begins from a “blank score” — not a fixed composition, but an open field.
Through voice, breath, strokes and sound, audience and performers write the score together in real time.
Responding to the room and to one another, language dissolves. Sound becomes a shared script.
For a moment, it no longer matters which country a language belongs to. Each performance forms a temporary architecture of sound.built collectively by everyone present.
