The story is like a bento box, made of distinct ingredients, carefully placed, yet part of one whole. It has always been a dream of @aikamoshita and I to build an Asian narrative while working abroad, to create something rooted in our identity, but told in a language the whole world can feel. In conversation with Leslie @sunles for System Issue No. 24. Though we’ve collaborated for years, this was the first time we truly talked about my creative process and the journey of my photography. I also had the privilege of shooting Fei Fei @feifeisun again with my close collaborators in Shanghai. We kept the set small and intimate, and I remember playing Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “A Flower Is Not a Flower”on set, it was beautiful.
