At Aggie Square, University of California, Davis’s evolving health campus becomes a vibrant, mixed-use district—blending labs, learning, and public life across two interconnected ZGF-designed buildings. Light-filled interiors, porous ground floors, and sculptural stairways foster connection at every level, while warm, tactile materials ground the experience in place. Fully electric in operation, it’s a forward-looking model for collaborative, community-driven design. Tap the link in bio to explore the full project. We are excited to share that construction of the @californiasciencecenter ’s Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center is now complete. A new architectural landmark, the 200,000-square-foot project expands the California Science Center’s educational mission to inspire science learning and delivers on a three-decade master plan to create an iconic educational destination for the Los Angeles region. “At the outset of this project we challenged ourselves to achieve something that has never been done before: to design the only place in the world for the public to see a space shuttle in launch position,” says ZGF Partner Ted Hyman. “We’re proud to deliver an iconic architecture that translates the Science Center’s moonshot ambition into an approachable experience that feels welcoming, immersive, and engaging to all.” 📸: @mpkelley_

We’re thrilled to share that ZGF | McClain + Yu, A Joint Venture have been selected to design a new state-of-the-art facility for @uofnm School of Medicine. Projected to double the School’s enrollment over the next decade, the facility will help expand New Mexico’s health care workforce of the future and address the demand for more providers across the region. "The School of Medicine represents an exciting new resource for The University of New Mexico to build on its world-class medical education," said Braulio Baptista, ZGF Partner. "Not only will it enable medical programs to grow their graduating classes, but it promises to be a community-oriented facility that prepares students for today’s team-based, interprofessional health care delivery models." @mcclain_yu_arch

The site, architecture, and programming of the @nsmsandiego offer a landmark designed to deepen public understanding of the SEALs’ heritage, strengthen ties with the community, and celebrate those who have answered the call to serve. Located at the end of Lane Field Park along Harbor Drive, the museum helps shape the park’s northern edge into a welcoming forecourt. There, the building lifts to form a shaded, generous lobby that opens the museum to the public, featuring a shallow reflecting pool that echoes the rhythms of the waterfront. Strategically placed façade openings reveal glimpses of artifacts within and connect the museum’s inner narrative to the energy of the street outside. This includes views into a full-height central atrium designed to put large suspended artifacts, such as military aircraft, on display for passersby. Youth education space and a café are programmed at the museum’s northeast corner, which opens onto a pedestrian-friendly street. Placing public programs here activates the quieter edge of the site, ensuring both sides of the building remain open and contributing to a lively urban experience.

ZGF is honored to be designing the new @nsmsandiego ! Envisioned as a place to preserve the heritage of the U.S. Navy SEALs, honor the fallen, and support military families, the museum invites the public to engage with the legacy of the world’s premier maritime special operations force. Positioned along San Diego’s waterfront, the project also aims to become a new civic destination through expanded public outreach, youth education, immersive storytelling, and shared event spaces. The new four-story structure is composed of angular geometries with an exterior that offers both transparency and privacy, striking a balance between the need for stealth and the call to public service central to the SEAL ethos. The building massing responds to the site’s urban context with a strong architectural form that conveys momentum. Faceted metal surfaces—drawing inspiration from SEAL watercraft and equipment—interact with San Diego’s coastal light, shifting in both depth and reflectivity throughout the day. A perforated skin filters daylight and reinforces the building’s interplay of physical prowess and precision.

With a focus on daylighting, views to nature, and indoor-outdoor connections, Phase One of the Bridge District prioritizes residents’ health and wellness. The elevated terrace program features five distinct spaces, each thoughtfully designed to offer a range of outdoor experiences—from vibrant social gatherings on the event terrace to serene evenings on the rooftop pool deck. Located on the banks of the Anacostia River in Washington D.C., each terrace is framed to capitalize on the site’s one-of-a-kind Monument and Capitol views, creating a daily connection to the city’s natural and historic landmarks. 📷 @magdabiernat_photography

At @UniversityHealthSA Women’s & Children’s Hospital in San Antonio, sustainable design strategies support resilience and shape the experience of care. Calibrated to the patient room layout, the tower’s glazing pairs pleats of opaque spandrel glass with transparent vision glass to bring natural light deep into patient and family spaces while mitigating heat gain from the South Texas sun. Prefabricated patient room components support consistency, quality, and efficiency across the hospital, while a resilient floor-by-floor mechanical system allows the building to adapt over time as standards of care evolve. Together, these strategies create a healthier environment for women, children, and families. 📸: @magdabiernat_photography
