VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT 🧡💚🩵💙💜
With our 10th birthday right around the corner we wanted to take the time to highlight people who have gotten Youth Code Jam to where we are today! Daniel Acosta has been volunteering with Youth Code Jam since the beginning! When asked why he volunteers with Youth Code Jam he said, “I volunteer at Youth Code Jam because I am fascinated by the philosophy of starting people at a young age to learn programming. I started getting into computer science in 2006, and it was a struggle for me. A few semesters later, I became disenfranchised because of the way it was taught in colleges at the time. I changed my major to technical communications, and I discovered a programming language called the Processing IDE, which reinvigorated my interest in programming as a hobby.
Around that time, I discovered Youth Code Jam, which better exposed me to the teaching aspects of computer science and how we communicate these principles in a more effective manner to youth and even general audiences, especially in the world of AI.”
We appreciate Daniel so much and thank him for his commitment to making the coding community inclusive for all. 🎉🥳
