Hi everyone! Get to know the performers and the bands that will be at my event this May 16th.🤡🪩✨ @homeagain_la started as an indie project to bring back the nostalgic sound of the LA indie rock scene from the 2010s. The band is now a group of friends who all bring their own influences and styles. 🎇🎤 @stkioofficial [pronounced saint key-OH], also known as Nicole Bandoquillo, is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, composer, and artist based in Southern California. Their genre-fluid sound merges pop, shoegaze, post-punk, new wave, grunge, and noise rock. St. Kio has performed at acclaimed venues such as The Echo, The Fox Theater, The Paramount, and The Moroccan Lounge, delivering high-impact sets that showcase her sonic versatility and commanding presence. 🎆🥁 @astraljubilee is a genre-blending band known for crafting immersive, otherworldly soundscapes that fuse elements of Latin, psychedelia, world music, and beyond. Their sound features shimmering guitars, layered drum textures, and introspective lyrics that explore themes of wonder, human connection, and emotional transformation.🌠🎶 Silvatito the clown @el.payazon is a 2nd generation clown from Mexico to LA. He has been a clown since he was 5 years old, and began juggling at the age of 8. Because of this, his passion is to fill everyone’s hearts and bring smiles to their faces. His hobbies are doing street performances and giving back to the community.🤹‍♂️🤡 Baby Baby Clowns @treearttalks @maddiemutations @youngtseng.work are a silly, goofy, free-spirited group of friends that like to clown around. Stacked lineup for this Sunday’s performance, closing out the I Ching Ensemble’s month-long residency at @waterandpower_life ! The show will consist of four I Ching readings, selected live and conveyed in movement, music, and projections—each featuring a different arrangement of musicians. ✨

April 2026 - Artist in Residency - Young Tseng @youngtseng.work Young Tseng is a mime who makes work in movement and installation. He is curious about the shifting of perspectives that can occur when one is paying close attention to human and non-human presences in space, time, movement, and stillness. His work seeks to share this experience of listening closely in moments of time. Young Tseng’s interest in movement and attention comes to him through training and practice in the techniques of Marcel Marceau by way of director Christina Sergeant in Singapore beginning in 1995, and in Etienne Decroux’s Corporeal Mime with Thomas Leabhart in Claremont, California since 2000. This Sunday April 19, 5:00–7:00pm, as part of our residency @waterandpower_life , I Ching Collaboration Ensemble is excited to present a hands-on Introductory Workshop to the I Ching Hexagrams and how to cast a reading by a simplified coin-toss method. The workshop will introduce the basic structure of a Hexagram and how to see and recognize a Hexagram from drawing it. We will practice casting using a three-coin toss and record the resulting Hexagram. And we will explore personal artistic responses to the Hexagrams based on what we learn from their construction and structure. The workshop will begin and end with Hexagram readings performed by the I Ching Collaboration Ensemble sharing our own process of casting, reading, and responding to the I Ching in sound, music, percussion, space, and movement. For the workshop please be prepared with: 1. A comfortable mat and/or cushion to sit on. We will be working mostly on mats on the floor. Chair and table space is limited. 2. A notebook and writing material. Scratch paper and pencils will be provided for the exercises but you may want to take and keep your own notes. 3. A small towel, mouse pad, or place mat to catch your tossed coins so they don’t bounce and roll away. Coins will be provided from our collection of old pennies. 4. Dress comfortably, as warm as you need to, and be prepared to take off your shoes to move or lie down on a mat if you wish. 5. Bring water. There will be chips and light spicy snacks. 6. Workshop fee sliding scale $5—$15 per person to cover workshop expenses via CashApp or Venmo on the day of the workshop. No one turned away for lack of funds. Starting Monday, we are opening our residency at @waterandpower_life to visitors. Drop in during any of the listed Open Lab hours to learn about, practice, and play with the I Ching alongside us! You may catch us in the middle of a reading or rehearsal. Please feel welcome to use the space – there will be instructions, a reading corner, tea, table for writing and practicing. Feel free also to bring your own cushions and/or mats!

We are pleased to announce our April 2026 Artist in Residence! Artists @youngtseng.work @zhaomusic & @angellinsounds will present the I Ching Ensemble, with public ‘open lab’ workshops throughout April and a final culminating performance on May 3, 2026 Project Description: This April, I Ching collaboration ensemble would like to invite you to join us for weekly Open Labs as we study and explore the ways in which the I Ching translates into practice and performance. We are excited and honored for the opportunity to share reading, process, exploration, and discovery in residence at Water & Power this month! No previous experience with the I Ching is necessary. The laboratories will be supported with a collection of print translations and interpretive guides – or you may bring your own. Laboratory sessions will include exploring and responding to the I Ching with music, movement, drawing, and writing.  A final performance at the end of the residency will feature guest artists and an installation of readings and visitor contributions gathered during the Open Lab sessions. Kenny Zhao, angel lin, and Young Tseng have been reading and exploring the I Ching in collaborative performances that combine divination, improvisation, and listening deeply. Open Lab sessions are free. Donations to support Water & Power are welcome. Waste Memoria - 2 nights of performance art, music, and installation in celebration of the winter solstice at @waterandpower_life . Join us during the darkest time of the year as we prepare for the light to return!! Conceptualized by @angels.are.weeping the installation and intermittent performance will feature both Kane and @youngtseng.work processing grief, collective memory, the ecstatic and physical through interaction with sculptures and costumes made up of found materials collected from walks, dumpster diving and donations in Los Angeles. An exercise in drawing redemptive meaning out of the discarded and lost ephemera of our environment. Performers span a variety of genres of styles with a focus on experimentation and idiosyncrasy.
