Dahjyn — Peace Medal Out now on Éditions Appærent [APP016] Digital / CD available now Links in bio We’re very proud to finally release Peace Medal in full today. Please listen, share, purchase, support. — On Peace Medal, the horizon is defined by the heat of the aftermath. Dahjyn (Dan Ahrendt) presents a topography of scorched Americana and industrial erosion where the tempo slows to a sedimentary drag, mimicking the physical sensation of walking through deep ash. Collaborators Jesse Osborne-Lanthier and Asaël Richard-Robitaille construct a fidelity that feels deliberately compromised—marked by the texture of rust and tensile failure. It is a token of survival that refuses to shine, reflecting a world where “peace” is simply the moment violence solidifies into memory. Merging cultural displacement with intense physical trauma, Ahrendt fuses songwriting, electronic experimentation, and doom of both guttural and beatific origins into a grand sonic calamity. It is a work suspended between comfort and anger: a “blanket to brawl in” for any who have lost a world, or those still searching for theirs. — Produced by Dan Ahrendt & Jesse Osborne-Lanthier Performed, recorded and arranged by Dan Ahrendt Additional arrangements by Jesse Osborne-Lanthier and Asaël Richard-Robitaille (tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8) Electronics, vocals, programming and guitar by Dan Ahrendt Additional electronics by Jesse Osborne-Lanthier (tracks 2, 5, 8) and Asaël Richard-Robitaille (tracks 1, 4, 6, 7) Percussion by Jesse Osborne-Lanthier (track 8) Guitar by Asaël Richard-Robitaille (track 7) Drums by Olivier Fairfield (tracks 2, 3, 7), recorded by Alex Crow, Pierre Guerineau & Jesse Osborne-Lanthier Mixed and mastered by Jesse Osborne-Lanthier Artwork, design and illustrations by Jesse Osborne-Lanthier Photo of Dahjyn by Eleanor Petry ⟢☽

‘Behead’ is the second single off of Dahjyn’s upcoming ‘Peace Medal’ album. Behead starts appropriately as a greeting, an introduction to a callous life born by cold nylon strings and the industrial slog. At first, Dan’s voice takes center stage inviting an audience to ponder and participate in the worst systems the world has to offer, before offering a warning, “Don’t listen, don’t let them take your head.” The bottom drops out, gravity passing through a sinkhole of gemlike arpeggios and percussive acceleration. The forever distant synth pads serve as a pillow for survival and echoes of purgatorial wonder in equal measure, positing how at rest the head is and how much of it is already gone. Link in bio, preorder digital or physical via Bandcamp or stream via evil streaming services.
