A long neglected (but not forgotten!) project of mine - ‘Art & Review’ - used to have me posting doodles and designs inspired by different climbing gyms I visited. Inspired by their branding, their space, or sometimes even just their reputation or vibe, I had a lot of fun making little rough bits of concept art like this and it was undoubtedly beneficial for my illustration (and my climbing too I reckon!).
I’ve often thought about revisiting some of the early pieces and redeveloping them - so it was a happy coincidence when the folks at @yonder.climbing got in touch late 2024 to say they wanted to commission me to rework my original Yonder doodle for an embroidered T. My original piece wasn’t my most confident or inspired work, but it seemed to resonate with the team at Yonder - and as one of my favourite gyms, I was very happy to be able to work with them to refine it into something to be proud of.
This is a little post of some of the bits (used and unused) that I made out of that project. It all wrapped up for me early 2025 but, as these things so often do, it took a long time for the product to get released to the public - so I’m very happy to be able to share these bits now :) Especially as the team at Yonder have put so much effort into making a super high quality and lovely embroidered T - what a nice culmination of the whole process :)

This Saturday 16th we are hosting a fundraiser for our amazing Climbing for Wellbeing programme! As founder @petebennettsart put so well “it’s just an hour of not thinking about anything, they’re problems or whatever it is, they’re just thinking about climbing” if you want to come and support, please come down from 2:30pm on Saturday and give your an hour or so to switch off, climb and meet some of the people who have been involved so far.
10% of your wall entry (single entry £15) or (concession £12) will be donated to our Go Fund Me from Yonder and if able we would love any donations via our link in bio to help keep this programme accessible to people!

On Saturday 16th May, as part of Mental Health Awareness week we will be hosting a fun social fundraiser for our amazing @climbingforwellbeinguk project run by community hero @petebennettsart
The day will be free to attend with a social climb with @petebennettsart from 2:30pm till 4:30pm followed by a short film screening and a short talk from founder Pete! (Drinks and nibbles will be available also)
Many community driven projects like Climbing for Wellbeing need additional funding and in the current climate these are hard to come by, if you would like to, and are able to support the programme, we have a Go Fund Me page to raise some additional funds to keep this amazing service alive and continue to provide free climbing and coaching to those who need it 🫶
