*English below Onze tweede artiest, @yipinprogress 🎼 29 mei, 19:30 HostelROOM, Van Vollenhovenstraat 62, Rotterdam YIP (they/them) is an alternative indie folk artist based in Utrecht. By combining folky guitar sounds with dreamy vocals and occasional experimental vocal excursions, YIP does not confine themselves to a single genre. The songwriter is guided by the music itself. With a passion for storytelling, YIP creates music about a range of social themes. These stories are given a stage during intimate performances. Besides music, they are also very involved in wildlife. This has sparked a strong interest in them over the past year. For example, YIP works with hedgehogs and has all kinds of facts about birds at their fingertips. It is a theme they also want to bring more into their music. @rotterdamtakeoverfestival #rtf2026

On a cold cold day in New York, remembering this balmy September afternoon in Holland. Creating this with my son Jasper, his friend Theo, and with Marie’s live music was truly inspiring. For the opening, we devised this “happening” —dancers and participants weaving in and out of the Willow Dome.
