ARTIST TALK RAMP TEST Performance lecture 10 min Utica, NY July 2025 ARTIST TALK RAMP TEST is an artist talk performed on a stationary bike while completing a ramp test on TrainerRoad. The lecture advances in one-minute sequences, while resistance increases at 5 watts per sequence, for 10 minutes. The piece makes tangible the relationship between art, labor, technology, and the body. The first iteration of this performance lecture occurred during Open Studios while I was in residence @sculpture_space . I would love to perform this again.

As a tangential update, after over four years in construction administration @kierantimberlake , I took a role in project management with the custom design-build millwork studio @kole_made . We are a tight-knit shop of dedicated craftspeople specializing in local materials and healthy, sustainable finishes. Friends and designers with Philly-based projects, hit me up. You already know! Hey everyone, Charlotte on the decks! I am an artist, curator and educator based between Philly and New York. I have a background in architecture and work in construction administration at KieranTimberlake, in addition to teaching at Sarah Lawrence College and Temple University. I’m also a co-director at the artist-run gallery @fjord_ . Through my practice, I explore technology, time, memory, vision, ecology and erotics. Core preoccupations concern the flow of material through the global industrial system and, in the words of some infamous thinkers, “what remains when everything is stripped away.” My work spans found object, digital fabrication, drawing, video, performance and writing. I am also an endurance athlete and while at Sculpture Space completed a ~282 mile cycling trip through the Adirondacks with my partner to visit a research site that I was introduced to while in residency at the fantastic @ottosabode in 2017. You may see some work come out of that trip in the next year or so! As a non-car owner, much of the material I gather finds its way to me while I’m on my bike in Philly or New York. I recently visited a junk yard with the cohort crew and was able to pull objects that I wouldn’t normally be able to carry on my bike alone. Some of this work will be on display during our open studios, TONITE 5-7pm! Gratitude for 2024. A year of many firsts - despite my schedule, managed to sneak in a 125-mile ride from Philly to Easton and back, my longest solo. Rode for 2 hrs in morning darkness, saw the sunrise and then sunset. Here’s to more miles in 2025 and chasing the light. #surlyogre #thriving

Been working a ton still in architecture + teaching @tyler_artandarchitecture , nonetheless feeling incredibly energized, focused and fed by this work - what a tremendous privilege it has been. Studio consists of maintaining a sketchbook, managing some pieces in fabrication, and prepping for casting experiments in the spring. Riding the long wave. Have loved experimenting alongside students with natural inks and mycelium (soon). Foraging via bike has opened the world to me in greater depth, particularly in our historically / geologically / environmentally-complex region of PA. Continuing to rock with the best @fjord_ as well. Feeling grateful at this moment!
