Off up to the Isle of Skye for a few days tomorrow. Can’t wait to show you around. Then I’m super excited to be completing my mountain leader training course for a week! Not sure how much I’ll be able to document but I’ll hopefully be able to share what I’m up to. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time so I’m very excited to crack on! M 💚
Carousel is a few frames from my recent stay at @inverlonan .

Let’s go for a wee wander to…
Everest Base Camp.
This Sunday I’m travelling to the Khumbu region of Nepal with @nimsdai_foundation for the opening of a new porter’s hut. A building that means shelter, warmth, and rest for the people who carry everything up there, in all weathers.
You’ve seen the photograph. The grinning face at altitude. What it never shows is who made it possible. The porter is cropped out. They always are.
There’s a lot to talk about.

I received instructions from an anonymous source and I simply obeyed.
Now I’m halfway up a mountain with suspiciously good energy levels and a backpack full of wellness supplies.

Facebook memories just told me and @yermatty were sat outside in the cold talking about the Bill to ban conversion practices that was already overdue six years ago.
Six years later it is even more overdue and as part of the @banconversionpractices coalition @stonewalluk remains determined to ensure a fully inclusive ban for the whole LGBTQ+ community. No ifs, just when #BanConversionPractices
Groundhog day you say.
I lost my rhythm… and didn’t realise how much I needed to find it again. | AD
This trip reminded me it doesn’t have to be complicated. One thing a day. That’s it.
If you’ve been feeling a bit off lately, this might be the reset you need.
Thanks to @ArlaDairyUK & Arla Skyr for the invite and the fuel to keep me going out there.

There may not be a word for it - that feeling when you return to a place you know so well you don’t need a sat nav or directions. Your feet remember.
We crossed from Cairnryan to Larne on the @poferries , the same water that has carried people between Scotland and Ireland for thousands of years. Vikings. Saints. Giants, if you believe the stories.
I found myself standing at the rail thinking about all of them. About the flow of people across these waters, back and forth, back and forth. About how that flow is in me too.
And then the coastal path above the causeway. The seagulls and the wind and the waves below and the basalt columns, ancient and indifferent, sixty million years old and entirely unbothered by my presence. We are a blip. Rather than that being frightening, I find it a relief. A reminder to live each day as if it matters. Because it does. Just not to the rocks.
And standing in something so unchanged you can measure, quietly and precisely, the distance between who you were the last time you stood here and who you are now.
I have been to new places and felt the thrill of it. But there is a different joy in return. Deeper, perhaps. Less glamorous. More true.
What an honour to know a place.

A wee wander via @poferries . So many amazing memories here. This has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.

There is a hill on Skye called Beinn na Caillich. It means Hill of the Old Woman. She was in a mood today.
The clouds opened and closed like curtains as we climbed the first summit and dropped down onto the shoulder between the two peaks. And that is where she got us. A wall of wind, sudden and unrelenting, so forceful we crumpled to the ground laughing, clinging to our dogs for fear they might blow away and we might follow after.
This is the sublime.
Below, people moan about the weather, about the state of the world, about anything anyone will listen to them moan about. It is easy to dislike things. Braver, I think, to love them.
Up on the ridge the wind sings and you find, to your surprise, that you are singing along. And then comes the exhale - long and involuntary - of breath you didn’t know you’d been holding.
Up here you are present. Unguarded. Fully yourself.
The question I carried back down with me - how do I remain that person?
What an honour to experience the weather.

Reflections on a few days exploring from @threechimneysskye
There is a glamour on Skye. Something fey and old. The kind of place that puts you back in your body - where you feel as free and unregarded as the sheep.
The weather does what it wants. And somehow that’s a relief.
You learn quickly to be grateful for the sun and to meet the rain with the same enthusiasm.
