do NOT tell flutetok about this
I wouldn’t say I’m extremely proud of this very brief performance but it was kind of nice to revisit something that was once a big part of my life. Unclear if I will ever pick this up again but hey it was fun!
what should I revisit next 🧐
Our fifth talk Story Tea Time guest NEXT 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝟲/𝟭𝟬 (𝟱-𝟲𝗽) will inspire your words with theirs. We are excited to host, 𝗞𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗸𝗮.
@yearofthekyle is from California’s North Bay and resides in Portland, Oregon. He thinks and writes a lot about belonging. For money, he works as a grants manager and consultant.
Kyle is the Founder and Editorial Director of @provecho.magazine an independent publication about the intersection of food and identity. As an editor, he believes that hyperspecificity is a portal to universality. He has no interest in an institutional voice, preferring to empower writers to arrive to the page exactly as they are.
You can find Kyle co-hosting the BIPOC reading series at Literary Arts and read his personal essays on his Substack.
𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝟲/𝟭𝟬 (𝟱-𝟲𝗽) (rsvp encouraged)

𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙏𝙚𝙖 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚
This series invites participants into casual dialogues between Fumi artist, Mia Reiko Braverman, and a cohort of local artists. Each session is shaped by the relationship between guest and host, and by the relational hospitality of talk story itself.
We’ll be serving teas from Apa Kabar’s own Moonstone Tea collection and burning special incense blends. Come and listen ~ bring your friends.
Why does food bring us together? It’s a question with many answers, some obvious and some subtle. As Provecho’s editorial director, I think about it a lot, and this is about as close as I’ve gotten to articulating something I’m satisfied with.
Sitting in that chair, I had just come from addressing the crowd at the launch, preceded by many sleep-deprived days working alongside our team to publish issue 02. The combination of the public speaking adrenaline dump and delirious fatigue is a winning one that I really can’t recommend enough.
The team is hard at work growing Provecho’s presence in Portland and beyond, and planning for issue 03 in Fall 2025. Keep an eye out for events, opportunities, and more in the coming days.
Love you all xoxo
Kyle

it’s such an honor to hear your stories.
thank you for supporting Provecho for another year. it’s been nourishing and exhausting all at once, and i’m so curious to see what happens next.
i’m not really one for celebrations, tending instead to move on directly to the next thing. but you all have helped me take a beat and realize that there is much to celebrate.
if you like what we’re doing here at Provecho HQ, would you leave me a few words in the comments?
xoxo
