ANYONE CAN ILLUSTRATE! 🌷Join me for an introduction to papercut illustration workshop at the @iprc_pdx on Sunday May 3rd from 11am-2pm! 🌞

📍 318 SE Main Street (in the @elbow.room.pdx Classroom!) Portland, OR 97214
😷 Masks required!
💸 $45 – $100 (3 no-cost spots available; BIPOC & 2S prioritized!)

We're thrilled to extend an invitation to join us for the launch of a very special project that we've been working on for the past couple of years in collaboration with poet & visual artist Anis Mojgani, and printmaker Hope Amico, made possible with support from the Oregon Cultural Trust.
🎉
Poems out of a Print Shop, taking place next Friday from 7-9pm, will be part poetry reading, and part printmaking party, with readings at regular intervals through the evening, as well as opportunities to make postcard-sized letterpress prints, and pick up a series of three zines, designed by Mariana Mora, that celebrate creative process and print. Read more about the event and the making of the project on the blog, and hope to see you at the event next Friday!
🎉

✨✨WE MADE YOU A ZINE ✨✨
🧡 Members of @thepeoplesstorepdx have been working very hard on this collaborative, 13-page, mostly text-based publication. It came about from this mutual aid group’s desire to express unwavering solidarity with Palestine 🇵🇸, and to further engage with political education strategies in our organizing. We’ve learned SO much, and welcome feedback — this is a process, not a product.
❤️🔥 Come to the @iprc_pdx TOMORROW (4/12) between 3-6pm to help us assemble our first Risograph-run of these zines, and take home a FREE copy!!!
❤️🔥 “Solidarity is a Practice: Part 1” was a big success!!! Thank you to everyone that donated and attended! I am so inspired by the conversations we had and the work that everyone created. Seeing people light up when they pull the first print is just… 🥲🥲
❤️🔥 Next event is on Sunday from 3-6, and open house style! Come through to pull some prints yourself!
This term, the IPRC Rodeo team worked on creating some fresh social media assets for the Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC)! We focused on highlighting each printmaking studio they have in a “Meet the Studio” series:
🟣 Main Studio
🟠 Letterpress Studio
🟡 Risograph Studio
🔵 Screenprinting Studio
We even got to take a field trip at the beginning of the term to see the space for ourselves! There are so many amazing resources the IPRC offers with community and accessibility top of mind. Be sure to check them out, especially if you’re a student interested in printmaking! @iprc_pdx
It was great opportunity to work with Leland Vaughn, a board member for the IPRC. They offered valuable insight, helped us stay on track, and kept our type detail tight. We 🤍 Leland!!
With love, the IPRC Team: Antoni, Emily, Mendi, Connor, and Leland 🌈💫
Reminder to all our new members that Community Events are free for members, and suggested donation for nonmembers. A couple pertinent Community Event updates:
We’ll be open for this weekend’s Writing Night with @stephanie_victoire and Collage Night with @annpetro@therealgarky and @kara_mcmullen
Later this month @amiagogo is facilitating a Poetry Practice Space, which will be a quarterly virtual offering in 2026. Register for the zoom link 🌀
And @countercurrentpress is launching a Political Art event for BIPOC artists and community organizers, with a meeting coming up next month in May.
It’s poetry month! And this year we decided to do something a little special with it and make a prompt deck with @jxzzhndz_ whose prompts are a kind of poem in themselves.
The Poetry Month Prompt-a-Day has 30 prompts for 30 days and if you donate $30 or more to support the IPRC’s poetry programs, we’ll send you one 💌
Designed and printed by artist @fkasquiglie in an edition 100 🌀

😍 The books are * B E A U T I F U L * and these humans who made them are wildly talented, brilliant, tender, sweet, funny, generous. Together, they’ve nurtured an incredible creative community. Their care for one another is so pure, so real, gifting the needed reminder that art can and does bring us together. They have so much to be proud of, and I hope to see you there to honor all they’ve done and who they are. ✨
