This mix drifts between bass, deconstructed percussion, reggaeton and some ballroom moments.
YCS is a Bucharest based DJ who explores the cultural aspects of music in relation to new club styles, performance and club politics. Haunting bouncy beats are central to her sound, alongside the Latin club spectrum. She is active in the ballroom scene where performance and self-expression intersect and she draws from that experience to shape her approach to the dancefloor. Her sets twist textures, bouncing between dembow and layered breaks, serving dark, pulsing flows. Over the years, YCS has played at key underground venues and parties, carving out spaces and maintaining a deep care for the dancefloor.

In her words:
I often experience ambient through the lens of a soundtrack. I invite you to listen through dark and familiar gloomy clichés tracks.
I have long felt melancholic toward vampires, perhaps because my generation and pop culture glamorized the idea. Over time I’ve begun to explore new meanings to better understand how historical approaches have evolved and their roots in Romanian folklore.
Aesthetically, it continues to inspire me a lot, movies references like Only Lovers Left Alive and Blade still hit hard, yet these mythological creatures, after all, carry strong associations with romanticising harassment and colonial attitudes, which I believe deserve to be questioned or reimagined.
This is a listening mix, this is what I listen sometimes in my bathtub, enjoy the haunting harmonics for today…
