EMCT Master Class proudly presents Gabriel Prokofiev EMCT MASTER CLASSES offer a fresh perspective on electronic music inviting scientists, artists, technologists and wizards who are at the forefront of Electronic Music, Computing and Technology. Curated by @eleonoraoreggia x @gold.computing Thursday 7 May 2026 \0/ ALL WELCOME St James Hatcham Church 4pm - 5pm >> EMCT Master Class: Gabriel Prokofiev 5.15pm - 6pm >> Pecha Kucha EMCT/CC/GAMES 6pm - 7pm >> DRINKS + PERFORMANCES + INSTALLATIONS + GAMES ARCADE Gabriel Prokofiev is composer of classical and electronic music, and the founder & artistic director of Nonclassical record label and events (in 2004). Gabriel holds a unique position at the cross-roads between classical and electronic music. His compositions instinctively combine his contrasting backgrounds in underground electronic music, contemporary classical and traditional European classical. His music first gained international recognition when his genre defying Concerto for Turntables no.1 was performed at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall in 2011, a work that has gone on to become one of the most performed 21st century contemporary concertos. Through Nonclassical, he has been one of the leading proponents of presenting classical music in non-traditional venues. As artistic director he has curated and produced over 100 events with Nonclassical, from intimate classical-club nights, to big orchestral ware-house happenings, mainly in the UK, but also with touring Nonclassical events in USA, Latvia, Germany, Austria, Hong Kong, Seoul and more. His live performances of electronics alongside classical ensembles & orchestras, and unique DJ-sets appeal to both classical fans, who are looking for music that genuinely connects to contemporary life; and electronic music fans who are looking for new directions in electronic music. In 2026, Gabriel co-founded ‘Prokofiev Studios’, a new culturally open, multi-format space for the creative communities of Hackney. Gabriel will talk about his experiences and ideas on: electronic music, combining it with the contrasting world of classical music; navigating career as a composer and founding Nonclassical!

_ presenting xname (@xnaam ) is the alter ego of Eleonora Oreggia, a conceptual electronic artist born in Milan (IT) and based in London. She creates performances and interactive installations using light, sound, dust, and electromagnetic fields. Her music features elements of techno, noise, ambient drone and industrial. Along with making music and art, Eleonora is a writer, researcher and leader of an electronic music degree at Goldsmiths. She has written extensively about art, music, and technology, and her first book (The audiovisual sign. Animated film and new languages) was published in Milan in 2022. In 2020 she completed a doctorate in Media & Arts Technology at Queen Mary University of London (School of Electronic Engineering & Computer Science), where she created REBUS, a novel musical machine that can be played by plucking electromagnetic waves. This innovative contribution granted her the prestigious Oram Awards in 2024. If you think this performance may offend you, please call an immortal. In the Italian tradition, Winter festivities end after Befana (Jan 6), a flying, loving and wicked witch. I take the opportunity to say farewell to 2025, one of the hardest years, on a personal and planetary level: doom scrolling live streamed genocide, wars and injustice, Italy ruled by a blonde barking pit bull (no offence to the dogs) leashed to the US, in UK nonsense as norm, innocent people arrested, left to die, and billionaires accumulating wealth in their tax heavens. The Internet has become the most dystopian, gated and controlling nightmare: I remember sleepless nights in the 90s, dreaming the beginning of the widest and most widespread ever possible revolution, or apocalypse as it were. 2025 made me an orphan: it's so hard to see your father for the very last time. And reconfigure, yet again, your idea of family, belonging, and the self. I may promise I'll flock tons of posts in 2026, as people ask why don't I promote... On yet another platform run by giants eating away our time and consciousness? While children are starving in the cold and students are killed, and laws, accountability and human rights are swollen away, do you want me to boast my petty ego with some pretty pictures? And please click like as that makes me feel alive. 2025 was also glorious in its harshness, as life tends to play with our gains and losses. I had the pleasure of hosting Professor Chowning, inventor of frequency modulation, at Goldsmiths: thanks to all those involved. 2025 was also the year MIT published extracts of my doctoral research: thanks for selecting a picture of my first performance with antennas for the back cover of Computer Music Journal. I also loved composing with Daphne Oram's samples, and performing live at the Barbican in front of 800 people: I felt at home! Last but not least, bookings are open for 2026, with apologies for not posting, I worked for years as a video editor and have long studied semiotics, so it's no lack of skills: I am just too nerd sometimes. But bear with me please. May my music and art and writing realign, may the ego dissolve and serve the purpose of unity and collective consciousness. We can change all this, together. Much love

Many years after completing the Level 1 Teachers Training at Joy in London with Sat Shakti and Simran Kaur @yogawithsimran from Kundalini Yoga East NYC @infinitespacenyc (I completed the course in May 2022, with some delays in perfecting my essay: "excellent understaning and assimilation of the teachings") I am super happy to have finally received both the paper certificate and a complimentary digital copy by @kundalini_research_institute Kundalini Yoga helped me going through the Pandemic and the unexpected loss of my beloved brother Alessandro, and it has become part of my identity, reshaping my perception of the real and my daily routines. KY has also redesigned my approach to music, shuttered by the precarious ego-driven loophole into which it is burying itself nowadays, ruled by multinationals, Spotifalse unethical rubbish, big corporations and not so much worth it in most dancehalls or club contexts. Yet music is a way to connect to the Infinite, and every sound is a vibration towards the infinite. Perhaps it is time to start teaching (again), or integrate sacred practices in my activity as an artist @xnaam and as a writer and academic @eleonoraoreggia The path of the artist, and that of the teacher, are both, in my humble opinion, vocational. They share nothing, deep inside, with ideas of power, fame, money and other imperial-capitalist values. Art is and can be critical mundane experimental trendy personal general good bad uncomprehended futuristic retro and anything you may want to define it. Yet it is, and it will always be, a deep spiriritual practice impregnating every aspect and every corner of the life of the adept, in the attempt to convey and mediate between the Infinte, as a union of multiplicities, and the singular, as a coagulation or individuation, an identity which emerges in front of the appearance of the real - as something other than the self. Last but not least, I'd like to thank my dear friend Liv Sahej Kaur @liv_sahej for introducing me to KI and Shiv Charan Singh @shivcharansingh for his spiritual teachings and the science of @karam.kriya . And, of course, big \0/ to @ashramramdassguru for sharing the joy of making music <3
