Putting out a record on a wee label with basically zero budget is hard work these days (it was never easy but it seems harder now for some reason), so it's extra nice to have a glowing review of the most recent thing on @wrong__island turn up on @bandcamp today.
Some words from @djmagofficial that really capture the essence of Miles Otto's Benevolent Acid. Six tracks of bubbling acid psychedelia fit for sweaty dance floors and cold forest walks alike. Available now on @bandcamp , @beatport and other places you'd usually find great music
Benevolent Acid by @miles0tto is out now on all streaming and download platforms. Six tracks of live hardware jams the sound as good on a cold morning forest walk as they do in a sweaty club.
This one is out now. Benevolent Acid by @miles0tto is a collection of six tracks of psychedelic acid breakbeat with a nostalgic tint, perfectly encapsulated in the artwork by @filipaaurelio
Out now on Bandcamp for a mere fiver, and out on streaming platforms on 11th November. Link in bio
A long-requested repress of @automatic_tasty 's The Rites of Wrong is out now and in all good record shops. Copies also on our Bandcamp page (link in bio)
11am today, me and @AprilClareWelsh take to the airwaves (or internet pulses) for another Bué Fixe.
This week we have a guest in the form of Lisbon-based DJ, @kiingkamii , who's going to talk us through a very broad-ranging genre of music from NW Brazil called Brega.
Tune in in just over an hour.
(Also if you are in Lisbon on the 29th, come down to @MusicBoxLisboa where Kami and I will be DJing together)
Friday 11th November, Wrong Island's Teamy plays the Bar in Lux Frágil alongside Suze Ijó and resident Tiago.
The whole Hessle Audio crew in the Disco downstairs too. 🚨
00:00-06:00 and beyond
Our monthly exploration of the music of Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries, Bué Fixe, is back and on @clydebuiltradio is 5 mins (11:00 Glasgow/Lisbon time).
Go to now to listen in
Completely unrelated photo but I had to use something and also wtf?
My favourite bit of the weekly @optimoespacio parties was the first hour where Keith and Jonnie played the weird and wonderful whilst the punters came in, and caught up with each other. Hearing "non club music" in that environment on a big system was a great way to find stuff you'd not heard before or to hear stuff you listened to in the house in a completely different way, and a s a result it was probably this time when the most track IDs were requested.
So as Carin and I have been booked in to do the opening slot on the last night of the Tresor31 festival ahead of Optimo, I've spent the last two days thinking about what the first hour might sound like these days, 12 years later/what my personal (Espacio) set would sound like, and I'm really excited to be doing this; I don't think I've ever put this much prep into a DJ set before picking out stuff from 2010-2022 mixed with older stuff I don't <think> was played at the Sub Club parties.
A long humblebrag way of saying if yr in Berlin this Saturday, come along to Ohm from 23:00. We're on till 04:00 then Optimo till close. You also get to here Carin do her DJ Caring thang - all obvious bias aside she's one of the best DJs I've seen, and the perfect choice to lead up to K&J.
