my next poetry collection, my 6th, is arriving in mid-April. it’s called BIRTHDAYS. my writing in it feels very much like it did when i first started writing poems in high school (is that good? bad? or just ¯\_(ツ)_/¯?)
BUT FIRST, i’m doing something different.
i’m releasing a BIRTHDAYS EP on vinyl. and Writ Large Projects is using the opportunity to make it our first Kickstarter project. the campaign launches TOMORROW!
THE BIRTHDAYS EP
i selected twelve poems/tracks from the book, sequenced them in a way that makes the most narrative sense on a two-sided vinyl record that can hold only so much work on each side. i recorded it on the voice memo app on my phone while curled up in the back room of our apartment because, well, i wanted it to sound like i felt. cover photo of wolf is by the always amazing artist, poet, actor, director Melora Walters.
PRINT-ON-DEMAND VINYL
About a year and a half ago, we met two young Carnegie Mellon engineering students. They were presenting a machine they’ve been developing: a print-on-demand vinyl record printer. Their company is called Lead-In Record Co.
we instantly saw a potential for writers, especially poets, to have a new (old) media—both to be able to sell and also to be able to experiment with. vinyl record printing has been too prohibitive both in cost and time, with months-long backlogs in manufacturing.

Reading "The 562" by @lamikethepoet from Letters to My City published by @writlargeprojects Mike supports so many writers and artists. Please check out this humble and amazingly talented poet's work. Have a great weekend, everyone!
We’re so psyched for AWP this year! Say hello to us at booth #436 and swing by for our presence at the 12:10pm panel discussing how to find "success" as a small publisher in all its forms amidst a publishing ecosystem of bigger and more-resourced presses.
Also! We will be hosting brief open-mic readings with our boothmates Writ Large Projects (@writlargeprojects ) on Thursday, March 5th and Friday, March 6th at 11am, 2pm, and 4pm. Come to the booth to sign up!
Note: If you can’t make it to AWP, you can still participate in our book sales on our new website! All online book sales will be discounted during the AWP weekend, and we’re also donating 20% of our proceeds to frontline organizations and mutual aid calls to get rent relief, groceries, supplies, and legal aid to those who need it most.
Here's our top three reasons why we’re excited about AWP:
- Connecting with readers and writers face to face!
- Promoting our literary magazine, which we’re so excited to launch for the first time since 2015! Stay tuned for our call for open submissions.
- Organizing horizontally with presses, editors, and other creatives as we find unity in our commitment to quirky literary arts that disorient and delight us.
Cheers!

Introducing a new press to our Indie Presses Section!
We are very excited to have Writ Large Projects join our indie presses. Known for their unique books, Writ Large Projects helps support underrepresented writers.
Here is a bit more about Writ Large Projects:
Writ Large Press, established in 2007 to publish emerging Los Angeles authors. In the years since, working with zero to minimal funds, Writ Large Press was able to produce groundbreaking work that has been covered by newspapers, magazines and, most importantly, transmitted through word-of-mouth far and wide within and across communities, beyond books, and beyond Los Angeles’s city boundaries. we’re on!! @judeth_o on stage at #DEMO2025 repping WLP and our new project. on the slide is a quote from @lrodrig555 who said of us: “I saw how they established powerful arts and literary events from scratch in areas of Los Angeles that had been long neglected. They did books but also creative book events unlike anything else in the city. They are visionaries and builders.”
