We were recently commissioned to produce the "Making Of" documentary for Releasing Hope, the latest animation from the World Mosquito Program. By weaving together behind-the-scenes footage from a global collective of artists, we captured the wordless craft and emotive score that bring this production to life.
Witness the journey from first frame to final render. (Link in bio)

Releasing Hope - new short film scored by Efterklang!
The film premieres today (now!) and it’s been a complete honor and privilege to work on this project for and together with @worldmosquitoprogram and @weareflow .
WATCH NOW (link in bio) 👐
The 4:30 minute long film aims to tell a universal story of hope using no words at all, which made composing the score both challenging and extra important.
Mosquito-borne diseases kill more than 1 million people and infect up to 700 million each year – 1 in 10 people globally. Dengue is the fastest spreading mosquito-borne disease in the world, infecting 400 million people every year. Studies predict over 8 billion people could be at risk of malaria and dengue by 2080.
The World Mosquito Program is pioneering the fight against deadly mosquito-borne diseases with its groundbreaking Wolbachia method – a chemical free, proven safe and natural solution with the potential to save millions of lives worldwide. Wolbachia blocks viruses like dengue, chikungunya and Zika from growing in the bodies of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This means that Wolbachia mosquitoes have a much reduced ability to transmit viruses to people. World Mosquito Program now works in 15 countries, protecting more than 16 million people across Asia, Oceania and the Americas. You can read much more about the film and the important work done by World Mosquito Program on their website.

Confirmed Speaker: Dr. Luciano Andrade Moreira at XXX CBE! 🎤✨
We are proud to announce Dr. Luciano Andrade Moreira as one of the keynote speakers at our congress. A researcher at Fiocruz (René Rachou Institute), his career is defined by high-impact contributions to the field of vector mosquitoes and public health, focusing on pathogen-host interactions.
During his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Queensland, he contributed to the discovery of the role of Wolbachia bacteria in blocking virus transmission by Aedes aegypti — one of the most innovative strategies for arbovirus control. Since 2012, he has led the Wolbachia Method in Brazil and was recently recognized by Nature as one of "Nature’s 10," highlighting researchers who have significantly impacted global science. 🔬🦟

💙 Releasing Hope 💙
It's nearly time to share a project we're all really proud of, that we've been working with the @worldmosquitoprogram on for the best part of a year.
Mosquito-borne diseases kill more than 1 million people and infect up to 700 million each year – 1 in 10 people globally. Dengue is the fastest spreading mosquito-borne disease in the world, infecting 400 million people every year.
In the communities worst affected many describe living with the 'spectre of disease' hanging over them. Or living in its shadow. We took this idea as inspiration to create a 'spectre' made of millions of mosquitoes to visualise the invisible threat.
Here’s a teaser trailer for the film, which will be officially released next week.

For South-East Asia, over 115,985 cases were reported by early December 2025, with India accounting for the majority of infections.
In 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 alone, between 1 January and 31 August 2025, more than 108,000 suspected cases and nearly 5,000 confirmed cases were reported, with 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐭𝐫𝐚, 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐮𝐣𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭 the highest confirmed case numbers.
The assessment highlights the need for sustained preparedness in addressing chikungunya, rather than relying solely on episodic responses during outbreaks. Given that chikungunya is a recurring and preventable public health issue, it calls for coordinated, data-driven initiatives at both national and sub-national levels.
