Libya has seen upheaval and civil war since 2011, only now is there some stability. As well as terrible loss of life, large swathes of buildings were damaged and destroyed in the fighting. History Hit worked with World Monuments Fund and the British Council to make this film in Benghazi, exploring the city’s cultural heritage and efforts to preserve the history post-conflict. You can find out more about @worldmonumentsfund work in Benghazi on their website! 🎥 Heritage After Conflict: Libya

@worldmonumentsfund , @laconservancy , and @arg.create are honored to receive @capreservation ’s Trustees’ Award for Excellence for our Rapid-Response Heritage Documentation project in the wake of the devastating January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.   After a system of wildfires burned over 50,000 acres across Los Angeles County, destroying more than 16,000 structures, World Monuments Fund partnered with Los Angeles Conservancy and Architectural Resources Group to ensure that heritage sites were accounted for in post-disaster documentation and recovery operations.   Learn more about this award at the 🔗 in our bio.   📸 courtesy of Rico Mandel #LA #losangeles #lafires

How can heritage survive brutal conflict? History Hit and World Monuments Fund visited Benghazi to explore the city’s cultural heritage and efforts to preserve this history post- conflict. This is a thought-provoking film, made with remarkable people who realise the value and benefits of heritage, not just in tourist destinations, but in our own neighbourhoods and daily lives. World Monuments Watch, The Robert W. Happy Birthday to Keith Haring, an iconic American artist and activist. In 2003, Haring’s final artwork, “The Life of Christ,” a gilded bronze triptych, was installed in Paris’s Church of Saint-Eustache. As one of the first churches in Paris to host a parish-based support group for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, the triptych encapsulates the church's history as a place of acceptance and advocacy. This artwork still stands in the church’s Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Chapel as a powerful testament to Haring’s enduring legacy and the church’s long-standing commitment to inclusivity. But in recent years, the chapel that houses this moving piece was in urgent need of conservation. In 2025, WMF, alongside the City of Paris, the owner of the monument, and the Saint‑Eustache parish, launched a new phase of work at Saint-Eustache to restore the chapel’s wall paintings and shine a light on the space's connection to HIV/AIDS advocacy. This initiative builds on earlier efforts: the Saint‑Joseph Chapel was restored in 2023 with WMF’s support, and interpretive panels have since been installed throughout the church to illuminate this overlooked history. 📸 courtesy of Jean-Marc-Moser. +++++ World Monuments Fund's work at the Church of Saint-Eustache has been made possible, in part, by support from The Robert W. Wilson Charitable Trust; the Selz Foundation; Anthony V. Thompson; Semmaris; and Alice Goldet. #keithharing

Did you know that participants in our Bridge to Crafts Careers Program (B2CC) use cemeteries as hands-on classrooms? B2CC addresses the growing need for craftspeople experienced in the preservation trades by providing training, including in cemeteries, to students in the United States. This year, @worldmonumentsfund ’s B2CC is expanding to New Orleans, partnering with @prcnola and Gambrel & Peak Historic Preservation Consulting to address the St. Louis Cemetery No. 2’s conservation needs. In New Orleans for @jazzfest ? Head to Tent G at the Louisiana Folklife Village to hear from Karina Roca of @prcnola about historic preservation trades—including B2CC! +++++ World Monuments Fund’s Bridge to Crafts Careers program has been made possible, in part, by support from Virginia James; Heckscher Foundation for Children; Nora McNeely Hurley and Manitou Fund; Tianaderrah Foundation / Nellie and Robert Gipson; and an anonymous donor.
