Wooli Duo 專輯設計 @wooliduo 是以琵琶與打擊樂為核心的雙人重奏組合，透過即興與實驗性的演奏方式，重新詮釋傳統樂器的可能性。 專輯設計以「音像軌跡與風景」為核心概念，將演奏中的旋律與聲響特性轉譯為文字線條與筆觸變化。透過書法法帖取樣、數位生成與重構，再結合筆墨書寫拼貼，使文字在畫面中如圖騰般流動與生長。畫面中央以燙白工藝呈現 “WOOLI DUO”，與之交疊的中文「無理」字樣則以滿版燙黑包覆延展，透過雙色燙印並置，形成鮮明的視覺辨識與文化對話。 色彩部分以演奏者的文化背景為出發，選擇綠松石色為主色，回應音樂中兼具古典與實驗的氣質。松石綠同時連結台灣與韓國文化中的傳統脈絡，並隱含歐洲建築銅綠的歷史語彙，映照出跨地域的文化交會。 整體視覺呈現一種持續延展的「聲音風景」，在抽象之中保有流動、層次與張力，呼應 @wooliduo 音樂中前衛而開放的特質。 Wooli Duo 目前正於台灣展開巡演（3/29～4/8），詳細場次表詳見官方IG，邀請大家一起到現場親身感受演出！ — Wooli Duo is a duo centered around the pipa and percussion. Through improvisation and experimental performance, they reinterpret the possibilities of traditional instruments. The visual concept of album is based on “sonic trajectories and landscapes,” translating musical movement into lines and strokes. Through calligraphic references, digital reconstruction, and ink-based collage, typography evolves into fluid, totem-like forms. A white foil stamping “WOOLI DUO” logotype is placed at the center, while the Chinese characters “無理” extend across the surface in full black foil stamping. The juxtaposition of English and Chinese creates a distinct visual identity and a dialogue between cultures. Turquoise is chosen as the primary color to reflect both the musical character and its cultural context. It connects traditional visual languages from Taiwan and Korea, while also referencing the oxidized copper tones found in European architecture. These layered references reflect the cross-regional backgrounds and cultural contexts of the musicians. The overall composition forms an evolving “sonic landscape,” where motion, layering, and tension coexist. The visual system captures the experimental and open qualities present in Wooli Duo’s music. Wooli Duo… a renowned Taiwanese pipa player, Fan-Qi, in collaboration with Norwegian drummer Michael Sørenmo, an avant-garde folk duo. LookEast! had the great honor of presenting them previously at one of our events. The duo created an atmosphere we have rarely experienced before and the audience, who were mostly young people, were simply completely spellbound by what they saw and heard. A magical power and a soundscape that few believed existed. The way the musicians handle the instruments, the interaction, the dynamics and the rawness in combination with the aesthetic experience. You have to listen, you have to follow, here we are talking about sensory experience and quality in every way. Wooli Duo just released their debut album, "WOOLI", has toured Europe and Fan-Qi's home country Taiwan, and now they are looking to Hamar before once again setting course for all corners of the world. Here, the void is transformed from mere emptiness into a coordinate for all generation. Spectral Improv Jam Vol. 16 transposes this landscape into the practice of contemporary sound, embarking on a sustained traversal of boundaries. Wooli Duo, a fixture in the European avant-folk scene, utilizes the tenacity of pipa silk and the primal wood-nature of Korean percussion to dismantle the narrative skeletons of East Asian tradition, allowing fractured rhythms to reconstitute into new fluidities. Simultaneously, the seminal improviser Shih-Yang Lee brings a signature piano intervention to these sonic architectures; his performance—as described by National Award for Arts laureate Wang Wen-hsing—possesses the exquisite, instantaneous grace of an ancient poet’s verse. Orchestrated alongside Spectral Pulse founders Zih-Ning Tai and Science-Art artist Kaiyu Lin, this session carves out an "acoustic clearing" at the intersection of experiment and physics. In this space, sound resides like embers within the void, reclaiming an honest resonance through the act of oscillation.
