They didn't just forget us. They erased us â on purpose. On May 21st at 5:30 PM PST, NYT bestselling author Dr. Anna Malaika Tubbs, @feminist âs Aisha Becker-Burrowes, and journalist Danielle Robay are coming together for Erased & Reclaimed â a national conversation on the 250-year-old system that was never designed to include us. And what we build when we take it back.

Mothers are the original makers: of life, of language, of culture, of resistance. They sing us into being. They name us. They pass down recipes and remedies and revolutions. We are matrilineal. We come from women who built whole worlds with their hands and their hearts.
And today, we hold ALL of them.
The ones laughing with their children right now. The ones in ICE detention who cannot. The mothers who are grieving. The foremothers whose names history forgot but whose love we still carry in our bones.
Motherhood is not one story â it is every story. The joy AND the grief. The creation AND the fight.
Today we honor all of it. All of them.

Last week over 6000 delegates from 189 countries came together as #WD2026 to advance a shared vision for gender equality and social justice.
It was an incredible gathering, and weâre especially proud that our very own CEO, @biafrateschivieira , moderated a powerful conversation on âSexual Violence is a Public Health Crisisâ and what it takes to move from awareness to real, actionable solutions.
We leave spaces like these energized, and committed to carrying this work forward together.
This one is for the activists, the scholars, the organizers, and everyone who has ever felt written out of the story.

Housing Insecurity in Los Angeles County has officially declared a Public Health Crisis.
On April 14th, the motion our 2025 SPI Local Housing Security team helped champion, co-authored by Supervisor @hollyjmitchell and Supervisor @hildasolis , came before the LA Board of Supervisors â and it passed!
We are endlessly proud of the SPI fellows and alums who continue to show up. Not just for the final policy win, but for every step, every meeting, every call it takes to get there. This is what building a future rooted in dignity looks like.
We see the pattern.
Just yesterday, the Supreme Court delivered a verdict undermining decades of hard fought activism, striking at what is widely hailed as a cornerstone of the Civil Rights Movement. And this week ICE quietly opened another detention center in a former California prison.
Gutting the Voting Rights Act, spending trillions on war in Iran, and billions on weapons to fuel genocide in Palestine.
This is not an accident, this is an extraordinary political will to attack, disenfranchise, and defund our communities.
But we have power too. And only the people united, el pueblo unido, can take the bold action needed to demand a future rooted in freedom and solidarity.
Join us tomorrow, on May 1, 2026, we flex our economic and political power.
Tomorrow, we will show up for each other because we care.
LA County is at a critical moment. And as the housing crisis worsens, we know now is time for sustainable solutions. And it starts with the budget.

Today kicks off Black Maternal Health Week, a time to reckon not only with the systemic racism, barriers to access, and disparities in care that continue to put Black womenâs lives at risk. It is also a moment to name the truth: much of the medical knowledge we rely on today was built on the subjugation of Black womenâs bodies.
Black women have always been the keepers of birth and care, and yet they continue to face disproportionate harm within our healthcare systems.
We honor Black mothers, clinicians, doulas, and advocates by listening to them and fighting for safe, equitable care for all.
