Grambling State (@grambling1901 ) has survived pandemics, Jim Crow, segregation funding, and defunding.
125 years later, it's still standing — and now it has one of the youngest HBCU presidents in the country leading the charge.
Martin Lemelle (@martinlemelle ) was the youngest head of any HBCU when he took office in 2024. Before Grambling, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM, and General Electric. He came with a plan.
Under his leadership:
→ Grambling hit a record $1M+ in endowment-funded scholarships
→ Launched Louisiana's FIRST PhD program in criminology and justice
→ Built a nursing program with a 100% licensure exam pass rate
→ Is using VR and AI to bring the Civil Rights era to life for the next generation
And when everyone else was scrambling over DEI rollbacks? Grambling's federal funding was already protected — because HBCUs planned ahead.

For decades, Black communities have been either over-medicated without explanation or told to just "push through" when it comes to mental health. Neither is okay.
SSRIs are the most commonly prescribed antidepressants in the country — and most people have NO idea how they actually work, what the real side effects are, or who should never take them at all.
We deserve to walk into that doctor's office INFORMED. Knowledge is self-advocacy, and self-advocacy saves lives.
