Originally designed by Karim Rashid for @wolfgordon in 2002 as part of the Digital Nature collection, FLEXUOUS wallcovering is defined by its fluid, topographic rhythm, where surface becomes landscape and pattern becomes motion. Now reissued in 2026 as a Type II wallcovering with updated contemporary colorways, Flexuous bridges its early vision of digital organicism with today’s material and environmental standards. CDPH compliant, PFAS-free, and built for durability, it is designed for high-traffic commercial interiors without compromising its sensual, flowing aesthetic. #wallpaperdesign #wallpaperdecor #karimrashiddesign #interioresdesign #digipop

At HD Expo 2026, Wolf-Gordon Curatorial Projects, in collaboration with Lenape Center, presents achimwi: to tell a story. It is an extraordinary testament to the strength of the Lenape that they have survived four centuries of physical violence, displacement, containment, and cultural erasure. They maintain their identity through proactive organizations of governance, ritual, and art. In achimwi, four Lenape artists tell stories through their particular art practice—music, painting, beadwork. Stop by booth (booth number) to experience the exhibition. Learn more about achimwi at our #linkinbio and stay tuned for our panel discussion on June 25! #wolfgordon #lenapecenter #hdexpo2026 #achimwi #wallcovering #art #architecture #interiordesign #design

2026 marks the fourth consecutive year of Wolf-Gordon Curatorial Projects, a program that brings art and design into conversation with political, social, and economic contexts, opening space for subjects not often addressed within the A&D community. This year’s project, achimwi—meaning “to tell a story”—looks to the history of the Lenape, also known as the Delaware, who inhabited Lenapehoking: the territory now comprising southern New York, western Connecticut, New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and northern Delaware. Manahatta, part of Lenapehoking, is where Wolf-Gordon was founded in 1967, 350 years after the arrival of the Dutch East India Company. The project began with a question about land and people’s relationship to it. Guided by Hadrien Coumans of Lenape Center, Wolf-Gordon has had the privilege of collaborating with four Indigenous artists whose practices span music, painting, and beadwork. Through their work, achimwi considers storytelling as a vital means of preserving and transmitting culture across generations. Featured artists include Joe Baker, Annette Ketchum (Tahkox Kwe), and Ahchipaptunhe of the Delaware Tribe of Indians, along with Brent Michael Davids of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. achimwi will be unveiled as part of Wolf-Gordon Curatorial Projects 2026. This collection will preview this week at the HD Expo Tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV, in May and will be available for sampling this summer. Firelei Báez is the first mid-career survey in North America of the multilayered and dynamic work of Firelei Báez. Featuring significant examples of the artist’s drawings, paintings, and installations made over the last two decades, this exhibition underscores the breadth and expertise of one of contemporary art’s most significant voices. In her monumental paintings and installations, Báez creates fictional worlds that explore the legacies of colonial rule across the Americas and the African diaspora, in the Caribbean, and beyond. Her exuberant, colorful artworks contain complex and layered uses of pattern, decoration, and abstract gestures alongside symbols rooted in Afro-Caribbean cultures. Her works are at once fantastical, multilayered, and immersive, inviting viewers into her mythological narratives of struggle and resistance. Firelei Báez is organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston and is on view at the @mcachicago through May 31.

Blast from the past! Throwing it back to 2002 with an ad for the collection Digital Nature by Karim Rashid (@karim_rashid_official ). The techno-neon colors and organic lines and forms reflected the ethos of that collection, which explored naturally occurring patterns found in plant, animal, landscape, and human structures in abstract 2D forms using then-cutting edge digital design tools. Designed by Stefan Sagmeister Join us in celebrating #25YearsofDesignPartnerships—and keep an eye out for more throwbacks to Digital Nature! 2003’s Touch by Petra Blaisse was an exploration of the contrast between hard and soft. Blaisse’s goal was to create imagery that would fool the eye into seeing a hard wall as a soft surface--imagery that would make people go up to a wall to feel it. Each of the patterns in the collection was a photograph of a softly-textured object. These soft, sensual textures, intended to be installed on hard drywall, blurred the lines on what a wall means by infusing hard structure with tactile softness. Learn more about Touch and celebrate 25 Years of Design Partnerships at our #linkinbio #wolfgordon #wallcovering #touch #petrablaisse #25yearsofdesignpartnerships #art #architecture

When Wolf-Gordon Chief Creative Officer Marybeth Shaw ran into Karim Rashid at a MoMA opening in 2001, coincidence became opportunity. The Egyptian-born American industrial designer had already created several iconic objects and shown furniture at the Salone del Mobile Milano. But, asked Shaw, had he ever tackled wallcovering? So began the process that resulted in 2002’s Digital Nature. This lacy, spacy collection of patterns represented the fusion of then-cutting edge computer design technologies and motifs drawn from the natural world that could not be created without the tools of digital design. “Flat Cut, Random Match”… how do you specify real wood architectural veneer? 👀 📝 🤓

For our design of the @stevemadden flagship in Times Square, every material decision was used as a tool to translate the brand’s DNA into a sculptural, immersive retail environment. The concept reimagines the interior as a layered clubhouse. A sweeping wood-clad colonnade establishes the architectural framework, organizing the store into a series of rooms that create rhythm, movement, and moments of discovery.

To define this system, we partnered with @wolfgordon to source a real wood veneer wall-covering that could carry both scale and nuance as the primary material for the interior. We landed on a Flat Cut White Oak with a Random Match installation… but what does that mean?

Flat cut veneer is produced by slicing a halved log parallel to its center, creating a distinct cathedral grain pattern. We love the expressive, organic movement this brings to the space.
Random match means the individual veneer sheets (or “leaves”) are installed side by side without aligning or mirroring the grain. Because our walls are interrupted with niches and openings, this approach allowed us to cut sheets as needed and reuse material across sections, minimizing both waste and cost.

This is where material selection becomes strategic. The cut of the veneer, the scale of the grain, and the alignment across panels all shape how a space is perceived. Here, the wood becomes more than a finish, it builds atmosphere, introduces warmth, and creates cohesion that reinforces the clubhouse concept.

Wolf-Gordon’s wood veneer collection allowed us to work with real, architectural grade materials at a level of precision that supports both design intent and performance. Collaborating with their team ensures the material language and spatial concept are fully aligned. 📷 by @annamorgowicz #stevemadden #flagshipstore #woodveneer #storedesign interiordesig
