Filmed in and around Sheffield, Reunion is a bilingual series featuring both British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken English. The series follows Daniel Brennan (Matthew Gurney), a deaf man determined to right his wrongs while unravelling the truth behind the events that led him to prison.

REUNION wins the casting BAFTA!
@harkinandtothcasting were brilliant in making their auditions accessible - allowing extra time for the deaf actors to prep with interpreters, allowing me to be present.
@nathan_toth was a fantastic leader in auditions, starting most of the conversations by asking “So, how do you know Billy?”
@oliverscullion went above and beyond, taking BSL level 1 lessons to make sure he could converse with the actors who arrived each day, and contacting community organisations.
I still remember the excitement we all shared when @madegu75 walked into the room.
They found @larapeake who was a revelation.
They cast Matty, Lara, @acemahbaz , @rose.a.e (who is nominated for a best supporting actress BAFTA next month!), @thisissophiestone@stephencollinsactor , @eddiemmarsan , Anne Marie Duff, @joesims10@darklydreamingduffy , @officialjulianpeedlecalloo@joanneharrison@rinkoobarpaga@jamesjsphboyle and many more.
They found, and cast, incredible people. And that’s why they’ve gone and won a bloomin’ BAFTA.

She said yes (Again)!
2025 was an amazing year for me but I wanted to do one last thing before the year was over... give Cathy a proper wedding proposal on New Year's Eve morning.
The first time I proposed was on our sofa on New Year’s Eve with a haribo sweet, she always deserved better. We also lost our rings surfing in New Zealand ten years ago, so I bought a new engagement ring and wedding rings from @flinnandsteel - a Sheffield based jeweller.
We also got married again by a waterfall, with our son as ring bearer and daughter reading the vows!
Here’s to the next 20 years Cathy - you are, have been and always will be my lucky star xxx

It was a pleasure to spend the weekend in Riccione as a guest of @igsfestival , who screened REUNION and awarded Matthew Gurney best actor in a Limited series. It was also an opportunity to meet some of my TV and film heroes including @deanjnorris , who everyone probably best remembers for Breaking Bad, but this guy has been in EVERYTHING: Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Lethal Weapon 2. Whatever you see him in, he always guarantees a good time - and he’s just like that in person, too. Thanks also to @warpfilms and @bbcstudios for giving me so many amazing memories.
