Reunion. April 2025. I had an absolute pleasure playing Sean in the series last year wonderfully written by @wlmager . Did I tell you that he is a TOP guy ever? It was one of the best experience for me working on the most inclusive set. A place where I can just do my job as an actor, just focus on my craft and not worry about the access side of things. To the cast… The powerhouse that is Matty (who I have known and worked with since 2008) - he delivered the best performance I have seen him play. Born for this role no doubt. A delight to work with. And @larapeake - a wonderful human who took on this role outside of her comfort zone and played Carly with such complex beauty as a child of deaf adult. The Father and daughter’s journey carried the whole show. The ending just finished me off and will forever stay with me. To the wonderful fellow deaf cast @thisissophiestone @acemahbaz @rose.a.e @thecherieofficial @officialjulianpeedlecalloo @alimjadavji @darklydreamingduffy Peter Sharpe @rinkoobarpaga @joanneharrison David Hirshman @jamesjsphboyle Nate (@mrslauraburns ) Sienna (@johntatkinson ) and Oliver - so proud of every one of you - you all truly delivered your characters wonderfully to this story. To watch you on the screen just filled my heart. We did this thing! Mainstream TV. 🤟🤟🤟 Here is to hopefully more in the future. To @darklydreamingduffy for being an awesome BSL coach. You gave us the wonderful tool to deliver the most natural and truthful performance. Thank you for your constant support and encouragement. You are a diamond! Big up to @sophiejallen @naigrayhere @mrmattkyle & Maria Skyes who are marvellous actors as well as interpreters. 🤟🤟 Fabulous seeing you on screen. To the incredible Supporting Artists - over 100s of them from the deaf community(some who I know and some who I met on set) - you have been brilliant and have made this series even more stronger. Loved chatting and getting to know you as much as I could. I hope you have enjoyed the experience and have been inspired to do more. I hope to see you on screen and on stage in the future. Let’s go! Reunion. BBC One & BBC iPlayer. April 2025. Dear Billy @wlmager … I am not sure where to start… so I’m going to say thank you for writing this intricate and heart breaking series. It is not only a deaf story, it’s much deeper than that. The series pushes us to see the deaf community at large, its culture, its nuances, the emotional layers, the complexity of those characters, our complex relationships with the hearing world and our struggles/barriers, our bonds with the interpreters, the visibility of sign language and we are leading our own stories on mainstream TV for the first time. This is something we have been waiting for a long, long time. Thank you for showing us it is possible. Thank you for showing us we exist. Thank you for showing us hope and to be excited again for the future. Thank you for lighting the fire inside us. Thank you for trusting me to play Sean, a new character you created and bestowed on me. It was a honour to play him to the best I could. To be able to highlight one aspect of mental health of deaf men struggling to navigate in this world. A beautiful 2/3 of a circle since you giving me my first ever acting job in The Fingerspellers in 2010 (I mean all things comes in 3 right? 😁) Your script made all this possible with the support of a fantastic team of @warpfilms @bbcstudios @herbie71 @gwennnnnn @siobhan.morgan @debs_coombes @fdwks and casting team @nathan_toth @harkinandtothcasting . A huge thank you all of you. This series directed and led superbly by @lukesnellin - who was able to effectively translated the script to screen wonderfully. You embrace our culture, you created this safe space for all of us and I knew from the first day we met at the audition you was the right person for this. Thank you to my agent Kelle @kelle.bryan & Riayn @advocateagency for always believing in me. For the encouragement and for the support. Let’s go!!! Continue message in the comment…

I’ve known actor Stephen Collins for about 16 years or so, since he made his acting debut in a silly comedy I wrote called The Fingerspellers. He’s since gone on to star in Hollywood movies, and act in theatres across the land! Even better he’s become a good friend. So it was a real joy to have him visit the studio this week to take these headshots, after a long day of rehearsals for A Christmas Carol, which he’s performing in at @leedsplayhouse for the next couple of months! We’ve got some more fun pics of Stephen and @nadiarathika to come but for now here’s a couple of pics from the session. Thanks to Stephen and Nadia for their patience while I fiddled around with the lights :)

On Friday 25th November 2022, It was International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women and also #WhiteRibbonDay - you would see all the men in the video wearing the white ribbon. Those two Days happen every year to raise awareness of the systemic problems we have affecting All women, girls, indigenous women, disabled women, lesbian, trans women and particularly those suffering from the failures of the system everywhere in the world. This happened all year around so it is not exclusive to this particular day to raise our voice to protect all women. With @signhealth , this video is addressing to everyone, particularly men and Deaf men, to unpack our misogyny and dismantle the patriarchy system that affects all women. Collectively, we need to speak up, talk to each other and stop the violence. Also we need to be accountable and call each other out to stop, prevent and put into action to protect all women. This is a long work and we must nurture the future generations of men to stop the rut from continuing. Together, with all women, we can fight for the better future. But that won’t happen if you don’t put the work in. Activism, research and understand why this is happening in this day and age.

Underlying Health Conditions was launch to campaign how the UK TV industry deals with accessibility. The campaign is a collective movement of disabled and non-disabled creatives to change the lack of disabled representation on and off screen. Things have got to change & WE together to make a bigger impact. @genevievebarr #JackThorne #KatiePlayer #HollyLuban @deafanddisabledpeopleintv @triplec.uk @1in4coalition #CreativeDiversityNetwork #uhctv #ACCESSFORALLTV ID: 1st slide is a smiling deaf white woman with long, shiny brown hair over one shoulder, sits in a grey leather armchair. She is wearing a black hoodie. Beside her is a quotation: ā€œIf you leave it until it becomes an afterthought, I’m always going to be the one who upsets your plans. Whereas if your plans involved me in the first place, I wouldn’t need to be the one who upsets them.ā€ Beneath her it says ā€œSophie Stone, Actor.ā€ 2nd slide is smiling black disabled man with short black hair sits on his wheelchair in front of a grey background, wearing a green hoodie, grey trousers and black boots. Beside him is a quotation: ā€œMore ramps allows me to get on and do what I need to do. It doesn’t require another person to think, ā€˜Oh, does that person need help?’ Nah mate. I’m not your charity case.ā€™ā€ Beneath him it says ā€œReece Pantry, Actor.ā€ 3rd slide is a white disabled man with short white hair sits smiling in a brown leather armchair in front of a window in a blue chequered shirt. Beside him is a quotation: ā€œ78.8% have no hazard warning surfaces at the top of stairwells.ā€ 4th slide is a white disabled woman with brown straight hair and a fringe, is in front of a dark purple background, wearing a black crossover top, stares directly at the camera. Beside her is a quotation: ā€œYou genuinely feel like you’re asking for something huge and it’s not. It’s asking for the basic things that people need to work.ā€ Beneath her it says ā€œRuth Madeley, Actor.ā€

Truly a wonderful theatrical experience watching Back To The Future musical. Set design, acting, music, story (although some of it was very outdated and a bit creepy), technical and projection work, comedy - all was absolutely brilliant!!! Love it! Top night!!! ID: Six images of the show at Adelphi Theatre. Slide 1: Myself & @oz260413 taking a cheeky selfie in the audience with the stage behind us. The theatre curtain is down with Back To The Future Musical text on it. There are neon blue lights across the edge of the stage with blue electric spread across the top and the side of the auditorium. There are two stagetext captions boxes on both sides with orange text. Slide 2: A wide shot from my seat, this time of the audience watching the stage. The edge lights are now purple with red electric spread at the top of the theatre. Its like the matrix or a computer coding. Slide 3: Same as the second slide. The show is starting and on the curtain is a neon blue image of Back To The Future film poster, ā€˜Adelphi’ text at the top and a time travel machine that says ā€˜ NOV 22 2021 19.31’ at the bottom. Slide 4: At the end of the show, I’m standing with the stage behind me wearing a t shirt with a bear in Marty Mcfly’s famous red puff jacket and white striped shirt. Basically its ā€˜Bear To The Future’. The text on stage says ā€˜Make Like A Tree And Get Out Of Here’ Slide 5: Myself, @brinhobeleza , @soapyworld & @oz260413 standing and beaming in front of the famous clock from the film with Back To The Future The Musical text around the edge. Slide 6: A movie poster of the face of Michael J Fox as Marty Mcfly, wearing a big black glasses. There are reflections from the glasses of his hands driving through time travel with colourful streak of lights and I caught another reflection of the clock in slide 5 that was directly behind me and managed to include that in his glasses.
