Two weeks removed from my debut solo show JANGILOVA.. Me : How do you feel? Also me: firstly that this happened about a month ago 😅. Then, just a huge sense of gratitude to God for helping us achieve this, and great pride in what we were able to do. Also huge huge gratitude to the almost 700 people that came through during the run Me : Happy? Also me: yea, that too Me: what was your favorite part Also me: EVERYTHING. Not in a cliche way either. Cause of how tight everything was, it literally felt like one long day. So I literally have no choice but to say everything. Cause that's how we were forced to process as we went. And it was amazing! Me: So, I have to ask, what's next for you and JANGILOVA Also me: for me, by the grace of God, tomorrow! For Jangilova, we're trying to see if the house can live in another space. Inside or outsideee. If nothing feels right, we'll proceed with making the furniture I designed around the themes of the show. We'll be making the furniture from the acrylic we used to build the house. I'm excited about that. We're also working on some show merch that might exist in the form of an auction, or just an online store (stay locked in for that). If we're successful you'll see. If we're not, you'll never hear about it again 😅. But yea, that's where we're at. We'll be sending out the press release this week. We hope to get some publications (local and international) that are interested in covering what we did. Me: seems like a lot Also me: maybe, only if you exist in the future though. This grant is rooted in the belief that sustained, accessible support can create meaningful momentum for artists, and that building bridges between ecosystems can lead to deeper dialogue, exchange, and collaboration across geographies. TORIWAM lounge chair - easy as 1 2 3 Directed by @william_ukoh Play and balance are themes that were explored when designing the Toriwam Lounge Chair - think building blocks and legos. The 3 piece constraint created an interesting challenge - how do we keep the design simple, yet functional.

Untitled Scent Sculpture This was an exercise in transforming an existing piece of sculpture into something different - to take shape in the space it finds itself in. The @aesop nose -a memorabilia from the “Above Us, Steorra”, product launch, serves as a catalyst for the scent sculpture Using existing material, and additional sculpture, crafted by William Ukoh, this piece comes to life. Positioned against a sunny backdrop, passerby are encouraged to pause and engage their olfactory senses

Hi, I'm William Ukoh and I'm the designer of the TORIWAM Lounge Chair Super grateful for the opportunity to show at @idstoronto under "Prototype". It was a very rewarding experience that allowed me to connect with fellow designers, makers, and lovers of design. The Toriwam Lounge Chair is a piece of history It reflects a current reality - the simplification or sometimes over simplification of design - space - and life. But within this silhouette, there's also ancestry - themes of play, balance and joy shine through as well. In making this prototype, I've grown, and continue to grow as a designer. And I look forward to sharing my thoughts, in physical form, in the near future 🙏🏾🙂‍↕️ Thank you to everyone that stopped by to see, feel, talk, or even engage in anyway online.
