@adobe And I present to you leaked FPV footage of the Starry Night!! …Okay so obviously you can’t get fpv footage of a fictional place that’s inside a 200 year old painting… WAIT…THAT’S KINDA A SICK IDEA 💡 ————- When Adobe asked me to make a video for #AdobeMax I knew this was my opportunity to finally mix art history with something flashy and modern - FPV DRONING. I’m always thinking of new ways to present art history - my guilty pleasure - and I’ve had this idea in the back of my head for a while and didn’t really know when to go for it!! So I cut out 2 versions of Van Gogh’s Starry Night to build the first scene, and 5 different Hokusai paintings for the second! Take some time to notice the details here, im super proud of it - each painting is entirely built out and every bird, horse, river, cloud, person, is in there somewhere ✨perfectly placed ✨ It was no easy feat to blend 5 paintings into 1 scene -and the majority of the editing was actually rearranging all the paintings to make a consistently beautiful / organized image. You can imagine how chaotic it gets with all the different pieces 🥵 All softwares used were Photoshop for cutting out the paintings, After Effects for animating the art, Illustrator for any of the 2d graphics that pop up, and Adobe Premiere for sound design and color correction! @adobe is out here pushing me to make some of my best work!! We got lightning, Parallaxes, Custom Interfaces, explosions, motion graphics, every glow effect known to mankind, etc. Let this video represent all the different creative lessons you can learn at Adobe MAX ✨🤍  keep reading to see my breakdown and REGISTER FOR #AdobeMAX I wanted the painting scene to be slow and beautiful - so we had to get there in an epic fashion to have that nice slow payoff. Side note: I had no idea how I was going to animate the beginning, but In my head, the inspiration for the intro was acting like I had just hit a Mario Kart box. As you probably know this is one of Vincent Van Gogh’s most iconic paintings, what’s even more interesting is that THIS PAINTING… was the first time he ever created the iconic Van Gogh Sky - this would begin a series of paintings where he would depict beautiful night-skies, filled with stars. This piece of art was actually the first in a series of paintings that would lead Van Gogh to make his most notable piece of work - the Starry night!! So there is no Starry night without first creating Café Terrace!! Quick fun facts about this painting: 1. You can visit the cafe Van Gogh painted in this scene, it’s in the south of France in a town called “Arles Place Du Forum” 2. Current est. price: 200 million dollars 3. So when you miss the subway you can still make it to the deserts of Utah for their Mountain bike event ‘RAMPAGE’ This was a dream collab because @es_dons is a master at capturing action sports, and I can turn literally ANYTHING into a portal with VFX. So We used a 15 foot long @fpolev and an Go Pro 360 camera to emulate a drone flying through the city, and had professional biker @nicholirogatkin shredding through domino park. @redbullbike set up a 15 foot by 20 foot Gate that they use at the starting line of their down hill events, AND THAT WAS TO BECOME THE PORTAL. Here’s how to animate yourself into history!! First I used Adobe Stock to find REAL archival footage from the early 1900’s, then I use After Effects to blend myself into these old recordings. Using “Tint” You can match the black and white levels, “Gaussian blur” to match the softer focus, “posterize time” to adjust the frame rate to be lower, and lastly “noise” to match the grainier antique film!! Best part about all of this, because of the integrated Adobe Stock panel, I was able to makes this entire video without leaving Premiere! #adobepartner #adobestock @adobecreativecloud

Ep. 1 of my new history series “LIFE In The Margins” where we look at America’s past, through the lens of the Media that was being published in the early 1900’s. When you read what was in these early editions of what was Americas most popular magazine - it becomes apparent why it took our country so long to make any real progress, the media being consumed by the masses reinforced so much prejudiced ideology. And we are going to explore that in this series!! Life Magazine essentially created “photo-journalism” and revolutionized the photography industry, they were first ever magazine to format the entire thing like a photo essay. So a lot of modern day artists have a lot owe to this publication, but as a weekly magazine that’s been running since 1936… they captured all the growing pains we went through as a nation (my nice way of saying they were basically white nationalistic propaganda). I’m mixing my love of animation & and history together to produce this passion-project of a series.
