Out on the beach in February snow—
the most wild and free I ever feel
in solemn silence with myself—
only my racing mind, the deer, seagulls,
the relentless pulse of waves
the whistling reeds which are truly so damn loud
the memory of everyone I have ever loved
and all I hope to be
January is long. February is October. My collective prayer for this new month is to remain soft in a world that bets on and profits from our callous hardening. Let us practice tenderness and deepen the critical connections which fuel and sustain our movement so that we can “hold our shape well when heated” just like the Koru apples. Love you truly…see you out there. 💜
I don’t know nothing except change will come
year after year what we do is undone
time keeps moving from a crawl to a run
I wonder if we’re gonna ever get home
(There is great joy and grief awaiting…)
Run Moon run Moon Moon
Through the olive groves
in bronze and in dreams
How the night heron sings
how it sings in the tree
Moon crosses the sky
with a boy by the hand
The wind watches watches
the wind watches the Moon
"Everybody Else's Girl" is an interpretation of @toriamos 's 1992 album Little Earthquakes written and performed by @steffchris with musical arrangements by @chrisgiarmo and co-created with @willafair .
We got to break ground on this project at The Mercury Store last week and are so grateful to have had the space to explore and create. Special thanks to @vivadeconcini for lending us the star tambo!
Stay tuned, y'all. This is gonna be epic.
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will also be singing.

2024… was hard. It’s taken til the 5th day of the New Year to shake it off… and yet, here I am. Here we all are. There was tumult and loss and sick violence and despair… and still, so much beautiful. The way eyes glimmer on camera, the way it’s possible to catch people in their natural beauty, leaves returning to trees when it feels like they never would, leaves suddenly transforming colors, the sight of the ocean from any shore, people showing up for us even when we don’t deserve it, meals made by friends, the feeling of being proud of people we love, the pain of caring so much all the time, all that mushy mush. All’s to say— I feel very very very lucky. Here are a few frames of the good, the cherished that remains. Tell people you love them (which you do)… May we face this year bravely… that’s my new refrain. It all sounds oversaid… but maybe there’s reason for repeating ourselves…

“Such was the end ... of our friend; concerning whom I may truly say, that of all people of their time whom I have known, they were the wisest and justest and best.”
There was never before and will never again be anyone like this Morgan Jenness— a puckish, extraterrestrial soul with the truest of human hearts.
Your bits of stardust will be found in everything out there worth seeing and in our little steps towards justice along the long arc of the moral universe.
What a gift it was to know you, to sit beside you, to discuss your notes, to talk of philosophy and patterns and form, to take your photograph.
