Tickets on sale now at: agmp.co.uk
Legendary drum master Steve White of The Style Council, Paul Weller, Trio Valore and more announces tour dates with his new band launching his latest album ‘Soul Drums’ (Acid Jazz Records).
Steve White came to fame as drummer with The Style Council appearing on the majority of the band’s recordings throughout the 1980’s and touring around the world including appearing at ‘Live Aid’ in 1985.
When the Style Council broke up Steve White co-founded his own group with saxophonist Alan Barnes - The Jazz Renegades - who were one of the first bands from the ‘Acid Jazz’ movement. Steve went on to perform with Galliano, The Young Disciples, JTQ and more around that time.
Steve White joined the Paul Weller Movement in 1991 and continued to record and perform with Paul Weller throughout the first few decades of his solo career.
Steve White has recorded albums with Mick Talbot from the Style Council as Talbot/White and the Players group with Mick Talbot and Damon Minchella. 2008 saw Steve form the highly acclaimed Trio Valore with Damon Minchella and in 2015 Damon & Steve formed The Family Silver with ex-Mother Earth vocalist Matt Deighton.
Steve White has also appeared live with Oasis, The Who, Ocean Colour Scene, Jon Lord, Ginger Baker, La Roux, Ian Dury and many more.

I feel hugely honoured to have arguably the best drummer in the UK playing on my original music. Steve needs no introduction and has a musical CV to die for. Cutting his teeth in the James Taylor Quartet he was snapped up by Paul Weller at the tender age of 17 years to join The Style Council and was literally catapulted into the spotlight and the charts, including playing at Live Aid. Steve went on to become Paul Weller’s right hand man and played on all of his legendary albums, shaping Weller’s sound with his Groove, feel and outstanding, tasteful drumming. Always prioritising the song over showy technicality, Steve is the master of restraint. Steve has worked with long list of legends including The Who at Live8, Oasis in America, Ocean Colour Scene, John Lord, Galliano and many more. I first met Steve in 2019 when he was playing with the underated Family Silver. The Dream Factory were due to support and we recorded some tracks together including Just You and Me written and produced with Bethany Dyson and two future releases which are being scheduled later this year. Steve is a technical genius but his session playing is all about serving the song. What’s more he is the loveliest person to work with. Thank you Steve for gracing my music with your genius. I look forward to us continuing to work together and developing our friendship. Dave x
Just announced!
Join @whiteydrums at the legendary 100 Club in London for an intimate evening with one of Britain’s most respected drummers. The night opens with a long-form interview, followed by an audience Q&A - your chance to ask Steve about his career, his craft, and the stories from the road.
Then the trio takes over. Steve White, Chris Hague, and Joel White have been touring on the back of Steve’s recent album Soul Drums (Acid Jazz Records), and they’re bringing the full live show to the @100clublondon for one night only.
Expect the rhythmic vocabulary that’s defined Steve’s career - stickings drawn from Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich, paradiddles, triplets, flams, polyrhythms, and grooves that move from disco to samba and everywhere in between. A masterclass and a gig, in one room.
