Nouvelle Vague are reinventing themselves again by dedicating an entire album to the repertoire of a single band for the first time: Depeche Mode. Thirteen iconic songs have been recreated and reinterpreted by new voices. Recorded in Rio with Brazilian musicians, the album establishes a dialogue between the musical soul of Brazil and Depeche Mode's timeless world, revisited with the Nouvelle Vague touch. The first single from 'A Date with Depeche Mode' is a duet of 'Enjoy the Silence' performed by Skye Edwards (Morcheeba) and Larry Love (Alabama 3) alongside Nouvelle Vague. Two voices, two worlds — one song. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro with some of Brazil's best musicians, the track strips back the Depeche Mode classic to breathe new life into it. One of the best known ska and rocksteady groups, they also are known for the first use of the word ‘reggae’ in a song on their 1968 single ‘Do The Reggay’. Frederick ‘Toots’ Hibbert was considered a reggae pioneer who was named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 100 greatest singers of all time. Known for classic reggae songs such as ’54-46 Was My Number’, ‘Monkey Man’, ‘Pressure Drop’, ‘Funky Kingston’, ‘Broadway Jungle’, ‘Bam Bam’, ’Time Tough’ and ‘Reggae Got Soul’, Toots and the Maytals are now fronted by Toots’ daughter Leba Hibbert, who has released her own recordings and worked with Sly & Robbie, Jimmy Cliff and more. Hailing from the Galgenstraat in Amsterdam they have refined their sound through the course of 5 albums. Over a decade of innovating brass music, Gallowstreet has been up and at it. Armed with 7 horn players and 1 drummer the band employs a wide range of musical genres to tell stories with their compositions, most of them beat driven, all of them with anthemic quality. Gallowstreet has proven to be a big inspiration for the emerging European Brass Band scene. John Holt was a Jamaican reggae singer who first found fame as a member of The Paragons before establishing himself as a solo artist. With a career spanning five decades, over forty albums, three Grammy nominations, a multitude of Blues Foundation awards and countless more accolades, Eric Bibb has secured his legacy as a legendary figure in the blues and roots genre. Born into a lineage of activism, Eric’s father, the late Leon Bibb, was a key figure in the civil rights movement, marching alongside Dr. Martin Luther King. Immersed in the Village folk scene during his youth, Eric Bibb found inspiration in the visits of luminaries like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Pete Seeger. �Influenced deeply by the sounds of Odetta, Richie Havens, and Taj Mahal, he synthesized these elements into a style uniquely his own. Azymuth started their career under the name Group Projeto 3 in 1968. The debut Azymuth LP featured classics like ‘Manha’ (a standard on the jazz-dance club scene) and ‘Faca De Conta’. This was quickly followed by their second album ‘Agua Nao Come Mosca’ which was was also released in the USA and Japan on Atlantic Records, bringing international attention. In 1979 their first Milestone Records release, Light As A Feather became one of the best-selling LPs of the year. It featured the worldwide disco/fusion hit single ‘Jazz Carnival’, which sold more than half a million copies internationally, and stayed in the UK Top 20 for eight weeks. Azymuth went on to record a string of albums on Milestone in the mid-80s, including the cult classic Outubro. Over this period of time Azymuth established themselves as one the world’s great jazz bands, playing at the Monterey and Montreux Jazz Festival alongside legendary musicians Chick Corea, Joe Henderson, George Duke, and Stevie Wonder. Far Out Recordings released the first Azymuth album in decades Carnival (1996) to critical acclaim. Since then Azymuth have recorded multiple new studio albums for Far Out: Woodland Warrior (1998), Pieces of Ipanema (1999), Before we Forget (2000), Partido Novo (2003), Brazilian Soul (2004), Butterfly (2008), Aurora (2011) ‘Fenix’ (2016) and ‘Marca Passo’ (2025). Tickets on sale now at: agmp.co.uk The Assembly in Royal Leamington Spa celebrates it’s 100th anniversary (1926-2026) with a series of unmissable concerts. Formed in 1977 to promote Ian Durys’ album New Boots and Panties on the first Stiff Records tour of the U.K. - Chaz Jankel, Norman Watt-Roy, Charlie Charles, John Turnbull and Micky Gallagher - became known as The Blockheads. As Ian Dury & The Blockheads they went back out on tour, and in 1978 released What a Waste a single that reached #5 in the U.K. charts. They were then joined by saxophonist Davey Payne and toured the U.S.A supporting Lou Reed. In 1979 Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick (#1 in the UK charts) and Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3 (#3 in the UK charts) were released along with the classic Do It Yourself LP. XTC’s legendary drummer, Terry Chambers, is back on the road with his band EXTC (named and approved by XTC frontman, Andy Partridge). Emerging out of the post-punk and new-wave explosion of the late 70s, XTC experienced global success touring with the likes of The Police and Talking Heads. EXTC perform classic XTC material such as Making Plans For Nigel, Senses Working Overtime, Mayor of Simpleton, Generals and Majors, Sgt.
