24 hours in NYC. I told Hadji months ago that I would sleep on the floor for this, didn’t take long to find out. My thank you’s always take too long because I keep trying to find the right words… Sometimes you just gotta say it. It was really nice watching my mother laugh. I can’t thank you all enough. @here.bk for the home. @telli_ninjasonik for his time. And all of you for yours. Fifteen minutes. See you next month. #peripheriebooks

The best thing about this photo is that after I got off stage, I had two messages in my phone, reminding me that I’m not new to the stage at all. This Saturday was my first time reading poetry to a (VERY) packed house in Andes New York. I wrote what I recorded 1 hour before I recited it. Unplanned, I asked for a piano jazz accompaniment… My only thought after I was done? “I can do better.” What a phenomenal feeling. Tonight I’m gonna try and do it again. I read at 8:30 sharp. Telli is going to tell some never heard before @ninjasonik stories and I do believe he’s bringing goodies. See ya tonight! #tripppsupppneverdown

Yesterday I did beatnik piano jazz poetry in a barn. (Thank you @chezshaye & @wayside_cider ) Today - while reading the @nymag I subscribe to because I’m old - I tried to zoom in on a photo using my fingertips. Who knows what tomorrow brings. Oh I do. I’m gonna read a little from a blog I posted 16 years ago in a cafe in Brooklyn. Maybe sell a zine or two. Physical media is still very important. I invite you all to come hang out with me. @here.bk 7-9 PM Just 3 readers, 5 minutes each, STARTING AT 8:30 SHARP. You’ll be home before the 10 o’clock news. Maybe you’ll run into somebody you haven’t seen in a while. It’ll be fun. This month I have the legendary @telli_ninjasonik . Act accordingly. ❤️

Once again, thank you for making my return home one for the books. Pun intended. This weekend was everything. I would like to thank @herebk for allowing me the space. I want to thank @brief.innermission & @nickydigital - a true downtown NY legend who has never read publicly before - for both their time & talents. Shouts to @goodpeoples for hosting me (and that supersized guest list, @brooklynemf was NUTS), and to everyone who showed their face. These 15 minute monthly readings are a passion project, and an experiment where I get to take myself out of my comfort zone and edit my 16 year old writings and recite them in public. To complete the capsule, I want to invite & showcase others that were present during those times, and give them a chance to share their stories. The history books are being written as we speak, I just want to make sure the people that inspired me are also heard. For those that weren’t able to attend. I’m releasing each zine on my site. So far I’ve created 3, with the first one produced by @themirf for @peripheriebooks . Truly honored. If you can’t support then please share. Those round trip bus tickets are like $160 and I don’t want to stop. I’ve finally found what I want to do with the rest of my life. A lot more of this. Oh yeah, and congrats to @bubstyles for his new album release, and thanks you @hadji_quest for allowing me to tag along. Trippps Uppp. LINK IN BIO. SWIPE RIGHT.

The @MTA press did call us for their Valentine’s Day campaign, but we were busy. “I DARE YOU TO LOVE ME.” A site specific piece by me. Competed February 14th at 10am. Took me several attempts, but the popcorn paint on the shutters didn’t take well to the paste. I originally wanted to fill the entire square, but I liked this version way more. The armed police weren’t important, she is. Her, and people just like her. So I resized the pieces, using her full one and just the heads of law enforcement in the other. Maybe one day they’ll remember they have one. I recently read that ICE arrested an American woman for harboring a migrant. Turns out it was her boyfriend. I can only image the quiet panic a lot of interracial couples are going through now in the states. All I know is that when I was in tears last year - the minute that thing got inaugurated, and all of his plans where announced - I spoke to my wife, and told her all of my fears. She gave me that same look she had in that photo and said “I’ll fuck them up”. These photos were taken in August of 2019, during the protests in Hong Kong. Happy Valentine’s Day, especially to the couples that won’t let bullshit borders block their love. ✊🏽❤️✌🏾 A huge thank you to @evade.alsistema , forever in your debt.

Good Morning. As you may all know, I’ve been away. This year the wife & I decided on a new spot for the winter - a city. They call it the Dubai of Central America. I instantly fell in love. I met the most wonderful being - a key to the city - and she allowed me to tag along with her on a project. Impressed by a wheatpaste I did for Mexico City Art Week back in 2020 (right before the pandemic put out the lights) she suggested I should put a few up. I quickly updated it. Our first outing was nerve wrecking. We rode the metro through the city during commuter hours, using the daytime as camouflage. I was sloppy. My paranoia leaked paste all over my clothes. I’d seen people get jailed for days for simply for putting up a tiny sticker in NY, and did not want to find out what they did in Panama. She was hit by a taxi cab that was being chased by police, and walked it off like an old lady bumped her shopping cart into her. This was day one. On the third outing, we traveled near midnight, as she wanted to post on all the main roadways. I was even more anxious, the streets were loud & quiet at the same time. I kept scanning the rushing traffic for police cars, like I had x ray vision that worked through headlights. The paint brush wasn’t fast enough for me. I started using my hands to scoop up the oatmeal chunky glue, rubbing it on the concrete & the smutty metal of electrical boxes tha punctuated every block. My heart was drag racing with my breath. I didn’t massage the posters into the wall, I gave it chest compressions. The homie looks at me, drenched in mucus water, and turned to her boy - another artist who drove us; and had joined her in observing a very rabid me. “Chacho Que locura…” or something like that. “Este tipo esta salvage..” “Yo you know this isn’t illegal right?” PERO COÑO THIS MY 3RD TIME OUT WITH YOU AND NOW YOU TELL ME?! 🤣 Tomorrow night I’ll be reading in Spanish for the first time ever at @lamulti_cultural . To celebrate trying out new things I’m selling prints of the work I’ve done down here. Merch was out the question (tariffs), and the local post office will only mail documents to the United States. ⬇️
