We have a brand-new stop on the Web Series World Cup circuit for 2026 … our first festival from Southeast Asia! Please say selamat datang to Seriale Indonesia, the sibling festival of @dieseriale , in Bandung, Indonesia! Presented by @goetheinstitut_bandung , this is the second year for the festival, and they’re open for submissions now until May 31. Submit your series now on FilmFreeway! The festival will be held on July 23–26, 2026.

The Digital Media World Cups are aware of the concerns regarding Baltimore Next Media WebFest and the actual play division. We are in communication with the festival and working towards a resolution. We will provide a further update once we know more.

The other two continents, Asia and Africa, while quite populous, had only 23 shows combined in the cup. So while showcasing 13 shows here over represents them compared to the other continents, we hope to encourage more creators from these regions to use these WSWC festivals to get attention for their shows. There are no WSWC festivals in Asia or Africa, so these shows are over achievers. Iran is a movie-making powerhouse so 3 Iranian shows in the Asian top 10 is no surprise. SAM, the top Iranian and Asian show was also top 50 overall, so congratulations! Kudos to animated show The Pearl and At the End of the Night as well. Israel also scored with Jananot - The Prima Donnas and Protected Space. Japan also had two shows in Liar Liar and Hell is Other People, Singapore boasts People Like Us, Marshall was a co-production of India and the United States, and Thai Street Food : Best Kept Secret shows off Thailand. Africa had three shows and all are included here. Top African show Algeria in a Campervan came to us through Marseille Web Fest. Hamel represents Egypt. And the only subsaharan entrant is Guiding Light from Nigeria. Congratulations all.

Shows from Oceania made up a little over 10% of the entire 2025 WSWC. Here are the top 15. Walking Shadows Vol. 3 from Sally McClean is 7th overall and the top Oceania and Australian show in a typically strong showing from Oz and NZ. A Series of Unfortunate Dates, top New Zealand show Camp Be Better, and Buried also finished in the top 20 with Walking Shadows. Pretty impressive. The Sender, Being Turi, and Literally dead are the other NZ shows in this top 15. Fergus, Slightly Cracked: The Trilogy, Greystanes, Bush Bash, Deserted, River Tap That, and Closure close out the Australians of this 15. Congratulations all!

169 shows from South America appeared in 2025 WSWC festivals, and here are the top 20. Queen Lear is number 3 overall and is the top South American and Brazilian show. Brazil had 137 shows in the cup, by far the most, so this is impressive. Congrats to the creators, cast, and crew. Apartment A is the top Argentina of the 18 represented in the cup and the 6 represented here. Chile is represented by Pepe Pollo Show, and Columbia has the well regarded web doc We are Stories. Relationship Anarchy from Peru rounds out the top 20. Congratulations to all!

North America placed 118 shows on the WSWC 2025 ranking, almost a quarter of all shows. As you can see from the Top 21, Canada dominates with 13 shows, including the #2 show in the World Cup this year and top Canadian show, My Dead Mom. All the shows here were in the top 50, worldwide. And La Terre Appelle Mathilde was top 10 in last year's WSWC too. Previous seasons of Abracavers and Illumingents have ranking highly in previous cups too. Impressive. Adventures in Zeroworld : The Incredible Shrinking Mannequin, is the top US show with 6 other shows making the top 21. Mexico is represented by the highly awarded Who the Hell is Daniel?
