We've just turned the North-East UK orange with the opening of our brand new Customer Service contact centre in Sunderland 🧡⁣ ⁣ This is the new home for our Customer Service and Support teams who look after our UK customers, grocers and Restaurant Partners, by supporting with all their queries and needs. To mark the occasion, we had our very own selfie booth, lots of JET-themed tea and cakes, and the chance to try out one of our branded e-bikes in the car park! ⁣ ⁣ Alexis Bowman, Director of Regional Operations & Strategy explains:⁣ "The best is yet to come! We are in the perfect place to add value to our Restaurant Partners and Customers, by creating a centre of service excellence over the next 12 months. Big news for convenience in Switzerland 🛍️ Just Eat Switzerland is teaming up with @migros , bringing over 10,000 grocery, household and everyday essentials to our customers, all delivered in under 60 minutes. Launching first in Geneva, Valais and Ticino, the partnership gives customers access to a wide range of products at regular in-store prices, combining the familiarity of @migros with the speed and flexibility of on-demand delivery. As Lukas Streich, Managing Director of Just Eat Switzerland, shared: “Hardly any brand is as deeply rooted in Swiss culture as Migros, with its rich history, iconic cult products, and its role as the number one retailer in Switzerland. Across the day, we moved beyond the hype and into what’s actually happening at JET. From our AI Voice Assistant to autonomous delivery with robots and drones, plus advances in Retail Media and lifecycle marketing, the focus was on real solutions driven by world-class tech capabilities. At Just Eat Takeaway.com, we marked International Women’s Day with a series of global sessions led by our Women in Tech Community, centred around this year’s theme: give to gain, celebrating the power of shared knowledge, support and collective growth. ✨ Across a week in March, colleagues came together to learn, share and reflect. From a keynote with AI leader Toju Duke, exploring inclusive AI and the importance of lifting others as you grow, to a session with Executive Coach Kristina Zumpolle on the real impact of mentoring. We also launched a new series of career chats, where senior women across the business shared their journeys, the highs, the challenges and the lessons along the way. Leaders including Jessica Hall (CPO), Hella Van de Haterd and Alexis Bowan opened up and shared their experiences with our Women in Tech community. At the heart of it all was a simple idea: when knowledge, experience and support are shared, everyone grows. A warm welcome to Lewis Atkinson MP, who stopped by our new Sunderland office last week. Over coffee and a tour of the space, Lewis met some of the team and learned more about the work happening across Just Eat UK, from supporting local restaurants to bringing everyday convenience to customers across the region. Our presence in the North East is something we’re proud of. Today, our operations contribute £20.8 million directly to the local economy, with a further £31.7 million generated through supply-chain and worker spending, supporting businesses and communities across the region. We’re opening our doors to the next generation of tech talent! 🚀 From London to Amsterdam, we’re opening our doors to the next generation of tech talent to help bridge the gap between the classroom and the industry. We recently celebrated a fantastic success in London with ‘JET x @colorintech :‘The Power of AI’ event, where students tackled real-world challenges through hackathons and explored everything from product management to software engineering. We’re now bringing that same energy to our Amsterdam HQ through ‘Inside Tech’, a collaborative effort with @adyen , @lifeattomtom , @wearemiro , and @tumo_amsterdam . Our volunteers are already making a huge impact by leading coding challenges and career panels, offering students a genuine look at what’s possible in tech while sharpening their own mentoring skills. Following a fantastic kickoff at @adyen in February, it’s our turn to host 40 bright young minds at our Amsterdam HQ on April 30th. Sunderland, meet your new singing delivery robot🤖 Building on our wider exploration of autonomous delivery in the UK, we’re rolling into Sunderland with a new pilot in partnership with Starship Technologies. From burgers and British classics to bubble tea, 12 local Just Eat partners are now offering “delivery by robot” to more than 11,000 households across the city centre, with orders arriving autonomously in minutes. And yes… these bright orange robots will be singing the iconic “Did Somebody Say” jingle when they arrive at your door. 🎵 Since relocating our Customer Service team to Sunderland in 2021, we’ve continued to invest in the city and its future. This latest trial is another example of how we’re combining local partnerships with cutting-edge tech to enhance the delivery experience. As Mert Öztekin, Chief Technology Officer at Just Eat, said: “Our ground robotics trials are all about innovating to improve the customer experience. When love meets last minute💘 This Valentine’s Day marked the biggest single day for retail sales on Just Eat Takeaway.com, as customers turned to on-demand convenience to make sure no romantic gesture was left behind. Retail orders surged 72% year-on-year, with thousands of last-minute gifts arriving in under an hour. Flowers led the way, reaching 30 times the typical daily volume, with over 30,000 roses delivered on the day. Plush teddy bears and cards were popular additions to baskets, proving that the finishing touches matter. Beauty and cosmetics also saw extraordinary demand, with orders up 150% compared to last year. Fragrance led the way, from favourites like Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy and Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy to curated gift sets such as Moschino’s Mini Collection. Meanwhile, sexual-wellness deliveries reached five times last year’s volume, proving that love (and self-care) comes in many forms. Groceries on Just Eat just got even more rewarding 🛒✨ We’re excited to announce the launch of our first grocery partner loyalty program in the UK, with Co-op as our flagship launch partner. Customers can now link their Co-op Membership card directly to their Just Eat account to unlock exclusive member-only pricing. This is a true win-win-win: 💸 It meets clear customer demand for value and rewards 📈 It helps our partners, like Co-op, drive sales and increase order frequency 🚀 It's a key part of our strategy to accelerate our grocery offering, with this integration alone forecast to add a significant increase in orders per month This is just the beginning.
