almost a year ago I joined the @touchgrasscamp reverie retreat where, for the weekend, we more than doubled the poc population of the village where we camped, hiked, swam, etc.
londoners of colour want to be in the outdoors — thriving poc community groups are helping them do just that. 🌱🌳🌿
I wrote about it on my substack (hello, it’s been a long time!) 🌈 you can find the link in my bio
thank you to everyone who spoke with me so many months ago ❤️
At the start of March, @womensalpineadventureclub held their annual Scottish Winter Meets in the Cairngorms and Glencoe.
Every year they run instructed courses for women wanting to develop their skills in winter - from those taking their first steps in crampons to those wanting winter lead climb coaching. This year saw 82 women in the wintery Scottish Highlands with 13 women instructors leading courses.
Joining them this year were 8 women from the @wanderersofcolour , taking part in ‘introduction to winter skills’ weekend courses, partly funded by Rab. The team were kitted out in Rab too to ensure they were warm and dry whilst learning and thriving!
Hanadi said “I learnt so much over those few days, not only from the direct skills you taught us, but also from talking to some of the other women, and seeing others enjoying the winter conditions.”
I had so much fun on the @wanderersofcolour ski trip in March! It’s such an honour to have a beautiful and supportive community to get out in the snow with and challenge yourself! ❄️🏂
Still struggling with snowboarding! It’s SO hard, but each time I go I get a lil bit better at it and I’m super excited to see my progress!

There’s something warm and fuzzy about climbing spaces bringing people together 💛 Charmian hosts @wanderersofcolour ’s weekly bouldering sessions, creating more access in climbing for People of Colour - and is next up in our Q&A series 🙌
We’re passionate about sharing stories from our communities because every journey looks different and feeling supported can make all the difference. Highlighting these real voices is at the heart of what we do, showing the impact of being supported, included and encouraged.

Peak District, we’re comingggg ⛰️💜
Our next Weekend Wanderer is taking us to the Peak District for a weekend of hiking, fresh air and good community.
From 24–26 April, we’ll be based at YHA Castleton, with two hikes led by community member Aisha and support from Walcott across the weekend. This one is for those who want to stretch themselves a little and explore one of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes with other queer folk.
Whether you’re looking to build confidence on the trail, challenge yourself a bit more, or just fancy a weekend that feels grounding and energising, come through 🌿
Travel and accommodation will need to be arranged separately, but we do have some travel bursaries available (reach out if you'd like support)
Come hike, connect and spend the weekend with us in the hills 🥾
Tickets are live now — link in bio/story

We’re so grateful for the support from partners like @mtntraining , helping us create real opportunities for our community.
Through this partnership, we’ve been able to invest in training, build skills and open up pathways for climbers to feel more confident and supported.
This is how we shape the future of climbing, one that’s inclusive, community-led and built on shared knowledge and safe spaces.
We’ve seen first-hand how powerful the right support can be and it’s why we’re committed to doing more.

Going up is optional, coming is not. A very fine mountaineering ethos. @womensalpineadventureclub exploring lots of different ways to stay safe in descent. #wintermountaineering #winterwalking #safety #descending
