We’re so excited that Adrian Ellis and Walker Grimshaw have been nominated by @thecdnacademy for Best Original Score for The Legacy of Cloudy Falls.
I feel so lucky that I get to collaborate with these two incredibly talented artists. They’re brimming with innovative ideas and take such a gentle, graceful and ego-free approach to their work. You never know where one’s ideas begin and the other’s end but they somehow always blend their styles beautifully.
Congratulations Adrian (@aelliscomposer ) and Walker (@walkergrimshaw )!!
Elated. Original Score nomination with the man @aelliscomposer . Huge thanks to director @nick_butler8 for the endless support, and to all the Academy members who voted. Unbelievable to be in the company of such esteemed artists, congrats to all! @thecdnacademy

some BTS from last April, working on the score for Nick Butler’s (@nick_butler8 ) upcoming film “Lunar Sway” with Adrian Ellis (@aelliscomposer ). Experimenting with guitar feedback, bass clarinet/synths through a gong amp, and vocals processed by the Hologram Chroma Console.

Looking back to this time last year, having Kalaisan Kalaichelvan @kalaisan13 up north for lab work on "Poitu Varen".
The sessions revolved around the mounting of transducers to a piano soundboard - experiments we'd eventually scale to three pianos for the live performance with @imnotchrispruden and @zoe.markle .
Modular synth, guitar pedals, feedback loops, aeolian harp recordings and experimental percussion were sent through the transducers, finding what worked sonically and narratively.

Back in February 2024, I had Tom @mappeof up here for a few days of "sonic foraging". These are my favourite kinds of sessions - exploration and tinkering without judgement, guided only by a vague shopping list, where most of the material ends up on the cutting room floor. Working with Tom was a real gift, and I’m honoured to be amongst the stacked cast of collaborators he brought together for this project. Huge congrats to Tom and @mappeof on this release. It’s a true masterpiece. Photo/video by @kiwitography.ca
Latest build is a first foray into modular synth modules. Teamed up with buddy Steve Travale to make these much needed passthroughs for the Moog setup.
