Unlock the emotional power of harmony. 🎹✨ Explore how harmonic language shapes modern storytelling — from the tension and resolution of functional harmony to the expressive freedom of post-tonal landscapes.
This 4-week journey is designed for composers who want to decode their own harmonic instincts, understand why certain progressions move us, and expand their musical language beyond the familiar.

Back from Berlinale and a whirlwind jaunt to India after. Was such a pleasure hosting this Screen Composer Guild of Canada panel at Orchestral Tools headquarters during the Berlinale film festival. I got to host and meet an incredible crew of women composers from around the world who shared their music clips and talked about making music to screen. Thanks Darren Fung for masterminding, Tonya Dedrick for seeing the value this brings to the guild and Graham at Orchestral Tools for hosting us at your cool digs. See you next year!

SAVE THE DATE!
Join us at the Canadian Screen Music Awards on September 14th at the El Mocambo in Toronto.
Now in its fifth year, the Canadian Screen Music Awards (CASMA) is an annual celebration of composer’s excellence in scoring original music for the screen. Launched and administered by Screen Composers Guild of Canada, these awards are open to all Canadian and permanent resident composers with winners chosen by the SCGC’s roster of judges.
The CASMAs aim to honour these composers for their outstanding work in media and screen-based industries. These accolades are the first to be juried and awarded by fellow screen composers in Canada.
In 2026, nominations for musical works are being considered in 13 categories covering feature film, television, animation, documentary, games and interactive media. The SCGC will also present a special award for Lifetime Achievement.
Submissions open April 6th.
