Hey I’m putting out a new album today! It’s called The Larger Point. I recorded these songs in September at Jake Keisler’s @gender__sadocaster home studio in Nashville. I had a lot of help from some great friends. Miles Burger @milesburgermusic played bass/harmonica, Nick Larimore @nick.larimore played pedal steel/electric guitar, James Goodwin @1steverdinoschilicookoffchamp played drums, Hank Long @hanklongsongs played keys, Mark Pierce @markcpierce played mandolin/sang accompaniment/cowrote Ice House, and I also had some amazing harmonies contributed by Clare Green @clareantoninagreen and Jess Awh @bats.tn . The album was mixed by Rick West @_rickwest and mastered by Dave Harris @studiobmastering . The album art was done by Jack Reed @w.jr.m .
I wouldn’t have been able to do this without all of those talented people. The album is up on streaming services and will be available on bandcamp whenever I track down a computer.
Thailand and Japan had some beautiful views, lovely folks, and delicious food. I’ll be sad to leave this week, but can’t wait to catch up with friends and family back home.
Last few months have included tiger fishing, a trip to Namibia, my cosplay debut, mushroom season, and termites eating the roof of my outhouse (not pictured). I’m looking at five more months here in Zambia. I’ll be sad to leave but can’t wait to see what comes next.
Incredibly grateful my parents were willing to travel across the world to hang out with me and some wild animals. They’re seriously the coolest, love them both a lot
Mozambique left me speechless. I experienced so much kindness from some of the coolest people across the world. There’s really so many amazing folks out there and I hope I continue to get chances to meet them.
Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend back in the US. Getting to see my sister marry someone who cares for her so much makes me feel like my job as little brother just got a little easier. As I’m waiting today for my flight back to Zambia, I’m missing everyone already and hoping the happy couple are having a beautiful honeymoon
The first 6 months of living in the village have flown by. Some recent highlights have included a trip to Siavonga, a drive through Kafue National Park, and building Pierre a little cat door. Grateful for the scenery, people (especially @d.in.t ), and pace of life out here. I’m looking forward to another year and a half of this to come. I’ll be back in Columbia for a few days this week to see my wonderful sister get married, if you’ll be around please reach out.
First three months in my village were great. Just got back to Lusaka 2 days ago for another few weeks of training and then it’s back to North Western Province. I’m within 50km of 5 other volunteers so I haven’t been completely isolated from my American buds. I’ve started working for a local radio station in Kasempa doing a 3 hour show weekly featuring some educational material, literature readings, and of course, all of my favorite music from back home. I’m teaching guitar lessons on top of the work the Peace Corps has me doing. Adopted a kitten named Pierre who watching keeps my mind off missing TV. My first rain season is quickly approaching but in the meantime it’s hot and dusty. I listen to a church choir practice almost every night while cooking dinner which has been a highlight. I look forward to my time to come here.
