Addis Fikir Production Diaries #01.
@besufekademulu , the Show’s Creator and Head Writer, and I often talked about the lack of stories that truly reflect the lives of urban, everyday people in contemporary Addis Ababa.
When he came up with the idea for Addis Fikir, we knew we had to make it. At its core, the show was crystallized in a single idea: a love letter to the people of Addis Ababa. But we also knew the challenges ahead — creating an hour-long anthology series, where each episode was crafted like a standalone feature film, all within the budget, time, and circumstances we had.
A huge part of making this show a reality was
@besufekademulu ‘s relentless effort, not just in conceptualizing the idea but in pushing it forward from development to execution. He carried the show from its earliest stages through writing, production, and even marketing, ensuring that it wasn’t just made but made right. His vision brought together an incredibly talented group of people who gave it their all not just for financial reasons, but because they saw the impact it could have.
Addis Fikir is about people, young and old, navigating life in Addis Ababa, searching for a place to belong, trying to make a mark, or simply seeking genuine connection in a city that is densely populated yet at the same time alienating.
