This EP has been such a big part of my life and process as an artist! It is such an encapsulation of the changes i’ve been through during the 4 years of creating this✨

Wabi Sabi is een Japanse levensfilosofie die draait om het vinden van schoonheid in het imperfecte. ‘Toen ik me verdiepte in die levenswijze, dacht ik: wauw, dit past precies bij hoe ik muziek maak,’ vertelt Donja Meijne. Haar soloproject Wabi Sabi werd na nog geen handvol shows geselecteerd voor de Popronde. Vandaag verschijnt haar debuutsingle ‘Out Of Mind’, een psychedelische track vol golvende synthlagen en hypnotiserende grooves.

I refrained from posting this initially last year, because there are a lot of imperfections in this take and i had a broken nerve in my vocal chords, but i felt the need to share this right now because this song is more relevant to me than ever and imperfections are there to embrace anyway❤️
I wrote this song the last time i visited my family in Iran (about 2 years ago) because, while i was there, i missed my sweet @parlanrein back in the Netherlands. When i came back i became very melancholic and missed my family so intensely the song’s meaning flipped for me. And now, while my motherland is being burnt down and thousands of brave Iranians are being slaughtered every day just because they want to have basic human rights, this song is more real and relevant to me than ever… i can still remember the smell of lavashak, baghali and kooloocheh in the air while roaming the bazaar in rasht with my mom, aunt and uncle. This place will sadly only live forth in my memories from now on…
For the people who aren’t aware of what’s going on, feel free to message me. I want to educate and i want to share, because once again the media is way too silent and nuanced.
