This time around, I found myself writing songs about treasure hunts, getting mad (Fire-Breathing Dragon), and getting lost in your own imagination (Party in My Head). As well as very personal songs about being a dad (Long Walk Home) and having a Dad (Everything From Here). Hope you’ll check out my anthem to Saturdays (Better Day than Saturday), the joys and dangers of ice cream consumption (Brain Freeze), and the first song I’ve ever written where I started with the title (All I Wanna do is Rock (paper, scissors)). Last night was the last session of our Craft Series! Producers and Engineers from the Midwest chapter of the @recordingacademy converged at @vsopstudios for a dive into analog recording and mixing with panelists Matt Hennessy and Rick Barnes, moderated by Micheal Freeman. My big takeaways were analog clipping is cool, digital clipping is not, and if it sounds good it is good 🤘🔥 It’s been such an honor to serve as Co-Chair of the Chicago Chapter P&E Wing Committee this last year and this event was the perfect way to end the term. In my defense, it’s not easy to take a selfie with someone in NY (while I’m in Chicago). 😩😉 Rachel here! I had the most amazing experience working with bassybob.eth at Los Depressos Studios in NY via audiomovers/google meets, facilitated by Matt Hennessey and @studio_ty at VSOP studios in Chicago. Bob is such a pro in how he handles a session. I couldn’t be more impressed. Not to mention the production he’s done on our upcoming track! I cannot wait for y’all to hear it! And Matt’s skill and professionalism is unmatched. If you want his opinion (you do, I promise), he offers it honestly. If you don’t ask, he doesn’t intrude.
