The 141 dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens -- mostly chihuahuas -- of Operation Little Dogs, Big Hearts are now receiving medical, social, and physical care at ARC’s Rescue Center outside Nashville or, for those who need, at veterinary hospitals to receive extra support. Many of them are suffering from untreated illness and injury consistent with chronic neglect.
As they are ready, we will match each individual within our vetted and excellent placement partner network and transport them there to find the loving homes they’ve always dreamed of deserved.
Welcome to your new beginnings, little ones. We’re so glad you’re here.
Thanks to everyone helping. Donors and volunteers save lives 💙

🚨 BREAKING: Giant hoarding rescue in progress for tiny dogs 🚨
Animal Rescue Corps is deployed on Operation Little Dogs, Big Hearts — the emergency rescue of more than 130 chihuahuas and puppies in crisis.
These tiny dogs have been living in severe neglect, reproducing unchecked and struggling to survive without proper medical care, socialization, or even basic physical care. Many are suffering from fight wounds, respiratory illness, untreated and severe dental disease, eye infections, tumors, and other urgent medical conditions. Some have already been rushed directly to emergency veterinary care.
Today, ARC is working to rescue every dog on this property outside of Nashville, TN.
In addition to the dogs, ARC has also rescued two mother cats and five kittens from beneath a shed on the property, along with a large dog living in an overgrown pen.
💙 MATCHING GIFT CHALLENGE ACTIVATED 💙
Fran, a compassionate ARC donor, has stepped forward with a $10,000 matching challenge, meaning every donation made right now will be doubled to support the rescue and care of these animals and all of ARC’s lifesaving work.

A heartbreaking cruelty case unfolded recently in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana, where dozens of dogs were found caged, chained, malnourished, and living in horrific conditions. Many were covered in waste, and some had collars so tight they struggled to breathe.
One resident was jailed and charged with 27 counts of aggravated and misdemeanor cruelty to animals. Another individual remained at large when ARC deployed to assist.
Without an animal control agency or shelter in the parish, a nearby humane society stepped in to help before ARC arrived. They placed the dogs in a local prison-pet program for daily care. Recognizing that the dogs needed specialized veterinary care and access to national networks, the prison-pet program reached out to ARC for help.
ARC picked up all the dogs as part of Operation Safe Shelter, along with some additional at-risk animals from a local overcrowded Louisiana shelter. Safe at ARC’s Rescue Center, they will receive the individual medical, physical, and social care they need, including specialized feeding programs for malnourished individuals.
Thank you for powering these rescues and giving these dogs a second chance. ❤️
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Animal Rescue Corps (ARC), a national nonprofit animal protection organization, has rescued another 18 dogs and puppies in McKenzie, Tennessee, after their owner suffered from a medical condition and will not be returning home to care for them.
The seven adult dogs, eight juvenile dogs and three small puppies were surrendered to ARC on Tuesday as part of Operation Plain Sight and have been taken to the ARC Rescue Center outside of Nashville, Tennessee, where they are receiving veterinary evaluations, medical treatment and nutritious meals.
At the time of rescue, the adults averaged about 50 pounds each, the eight juvenile dogs were all about 30 pounds and the three puppies were about 5 pounds each. All of the dogs are suffering from insect bites and will receive treatment for fleas and ticks. Some also have skin wounds, eye and ear infections, dermatitis and fur loss, an abscess and one has a hernia. Flystrike, or myiasis, was also observed.
“This is one of those situations where compassion and urgency have to go hand in hand,” ARC Executive Director Tim Woodward said. “These dogs suddenly lost the only home they knew, and while their caretaker’s situation is tragic, our focus now is making sure each animal gets the care and stability they need so they can be adopted out to their forever homes.”
ARC’s mission is to support rural communities with limited to no animal shelter resources, particularly in cases where large-scale rescues or owner surrenders would overwhelm local capacity.
In the past three weeks, ARC has taken in more than 100 dogs in need, including several senior dogs rescued from a cruelty case and several puppies, all of whom need specialized care and attention.
“Every rescue is made possible by people who care,” Woodward said. “Donations directly fund lifesaving veterinary care, food and shelter, while our selfless volunteers are on the ground every day helping these animals heal. In rural communities where shelters and resources are scarce, that support is what allows us to step in, fill critical gaps and ensure animals get the care they otherwise wouldn’t receive.”

We've been busy over the last couple of weeks! On top of Operation Plain Sight, assisting with shelter relief and a cruelty case, ARC also picked up another 62 dogs discarded by commercial breeders. We leverage collaboration to ensure these dogs have the opportunity to find loving homes where they are treated as individuals... just like they always wanted and deserved. 🏡💙

🚨Breaking: Operation Plain Sight - the emergency rescue of 18 dogs and puppies in crisis, happening now.
When a medical emergency hit a West Tennessee resident, relatives and friends found 18 dogs and puppies living chained and penned on his property, in plain view of the nearby road.
Without local resources that could help this many animals, the situation grew even more desperate - until Animal Rescue Corps said yes to helping.
ARC’s Field Team has already observed health conditions common with neglect in these dogs, including ear and eye infections, dermatitis, flystrike, fleas, multiple wounds, and more.

ARC can say yes to helping animals only because caring and generous people like you say yes with us.

Thanks to you, we’re able to say yes when it matters most. 💙
In the past couple of weeks, Animal Rescue Corps has taken in nearly 100 dogs in need, including 9 senior chihuahuas rescued from a cruelty case who require specialized care and attention. We also welcomed 18 surrendered puppies from a rural shelter, and an abandoned pit bull mom and her nine 4-week-old babies. 🐶
Wags and gratitude to Jamey and Brittney Johnson’s Give It Away Fund! 🥰 They’ve made a lifesaving $10,000 grant to Animal Rescue Corps, and we’re beyond honored and grateful to have been the recipient of one of 11 grants made so far by the fund so far this year. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The fund’s name came from the 2006 George Strait No. 1 hit, “Give It Away,” which @jameyjohnsonofficial co-wrote with Bill Anderson and Buddy Cannon. The song won Song of the Year at both the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Jamey, a 10-time GRAMMY nominee, has been called “one of the greatest country singers of our time” by The Washington Post. His music has garnered international acclaim and is embraced by fans of classic and contemporary country, as well as Americana and mainstream rock. Johnson donates a dollar for every ticket sold at participating shows to his fund. In addition, he donates all proceeds from the sale of a special T-shirt to his fund.
The couple chose to support organizations whose missions spoke to their hearts. “This will allow us to direct money to certain places where there is considerable need,” Jamey Johnson said. Brittany Johnson agrees, saying, “Volunteer work has always been an important part of my life. One of the things I admired most about Jamey when we first met was his massive and generous heart.”
Jamey and Brittney’s generosity directly fuels ARC’s lifesaving work… providing emergency rescue, safe shelter, daily care, and the resources to help formerly mistreated animals on their journey to the loving homes they’ve always deserved.
We are profoundly grateful to Jamey and Brittney for choosing to support Animal Rescue Corps and for using their platform to raise awareness and to give back in such a meaningful way. Their commitment to helping those in need inspires us and makes the world a kinder place for all.
Thank you, Jamey and Brittney! 🐾💙🐾
