Thousands of migrating seabirds pass along our coasts on their epic journeys between northern breeding grounds and warmer winter homes 🌊🪽
It is also one of the best times of year to spot birds of prey as they return to their breeding grounds. Keep your eyes peeled for spectacular displays as they search for a mate 👀🦅

We have been delighted to see so many happy faces visit @gearrannanblackhousevillage since the beginning of May! 🥰
It’s great to see the village getting busier as 2026 progresses!
Andrew from Devon, and his friendly dog Zeus, were enjoying the sunshine and watching the crowds go by.
Inside the exhibition blackhouse we spoke to a lovely woman from Boston who didn’t want to leave our open fire, and spoke of how the smell reminded her of relatives taking peat across the Atlantic as a gift!
We had a great conversation on the hillside with @paultomkinsphoto , who looked amazing in his Harris Tweed®️ outfit.
While Anne and Janet from Gloucester were enjoying the scenic bay view at the bottom of our village.

Phenomenal day on the water yesterday as we found ourselves in what can only be described as being in the midst of a Risso's stampede! 🐬 At least 3 #mums and their young calves were being chased & harassed as they made their way down through the #Minch at super-speeds!
Excitingly ... 2 of the mums were the same individuals encountered by @whale_nerd just south of here 10 days ago! 🥰🎉

Both Sula and Perdita have been recorded in the area multiple times since 2016, more often than not with a youngster!
