Virtual Geisha is a DJ, record collector, and producer known for her narrative-driven sets and deep digging into 90s and 00s vinyl.
After a decade in theatre and philosophy, she developed a distinct approach to DJing — crafting emotionally layered sets built on tension, rhythm, and unexpected transitions. Drawing from forgotten records, she creates immersive musical journeys that blur the line between performance and storytelling.
Her productions follow a similar logic — intuitive yet precise, blending raw energy with cinematic depth. Her debut track, "I Want You to Get Mad," released on Femnoise Records, reflects this approach, balancing control and emotional release.
Alongside her artistic work, she is the founder of VG DJ LAB and curator of the Fresh Faces Stage at Carbon Silesia Festival, where she supports the next generation of electronic artists.

I didn’t have much time to prepare, but I knew I wanted to keep it slow (by today’s standards), highlight as many talented artists as possible, and craft a deep, shadowy journey. Some of the transitions could have been longer, but hey – 55 minutes fly by fast. 😊
It turned into a true David Lynch tribute – haunting, atmospheric, and very Twin Peaks-ish.

If you’re new to collecting records, digging through crates can feel overwhelming. Most people don’t know where to start, let alone how to make good purchases.
I bought my first records during my trip to Japan in 2013 as gifts for DJ friends (I was still a dramaturg back then) My first finds were... well, not exactly gems. 😅 I think I grabbed a Ken Ishii for @kubok_dj —basically anything from the techno section.
After years of digging, I’ve developed a little system:
1. Make a Discogs account Start adding records to your Wantlist/Collection, even if you mostly play digital and don’t have any vinyl yet. Reading credits, labels, and nerdy comments builds your knowledge. Soon, you’ll start having those “ding ding ding” moments while digging, like “Ah, I remember this sticker from that disco record I added.”
2. Go to stores with used records Focus on second hand store. You’ll find new records cheaper online or directly from labels. (the new ones would work with digging experimental, ambient stuff - things that have been reissued etc).
3. Check stores outside your preferences It might seem counterintuitive, but check crates that no one cares about (you’re into techno? go to rock or Latin shop). These records are often hidden and cheaper. Sometimes, you’ll even find batches from ex-collectors. That’s how I got 37 prog records at Lucky in Iceland— great shop, but prog house isn’t their main thing. 😉ofc it not always work that well, sometimes you will find nothing
4. Get friendly with store owners Most owners are record nerds who know their stuff. Build a relationship, and they might give you cool tips or recos. After a 3-month dig in Hamburg in 2015, Hardy from Otaku mailed me with finds he thought I’d love. Love you, Hardy <3
5. Hit up flea markets Some sellers haven’t checked Discogs for pricing. If you’re lucky, you can find ultra-rare records for super cheap.
6. Be patient Building a collection takes time—no shortcuts, no cheat codes. Sorry. (even with big budget it still takes time)
