Last month we had the fun opportunity to work on a casting & producing only project! @fayarchive hired our team to find 5 remarkable stories of people who live, breath and work outdoors in WA state.
Stories and photos from the actual project won’t be released until the fall but what a wonderful project this was and shoutout to Michele, James and Marco for being a such a fun crew!!
In true Vignette style we of course had to give them their taco truck initiation.. Which seemed to have gone over pretty well. 😉
More to come and if you're ever on the hunt for amazing people and stories, don't hesitate to reach out!
Gear appreciation post!
One of our favorite tools for interviews is the EyeDirect setup (specifically the small folding one).
There’s a real emotional impact when you can look directly into someone’s eyes as they share their story. This rig lets us have a genuine, face-to-face conversation while giving the audience the same experience.
It used to be that having a subject look directly into the lens felt like a bold move that shook the viewer up. But recently we’ve noticed that everyone is so used to eye contact from zoom calls, influencer posts, and video podcasts that the audience doesn’t think twice about it. Just another tool in the belt.

A testament to how lasting relationships show up in our work is a special project from last year:
A film created for the Lowell, MA based youth nonprofit @utec.inc , in celebration of their 25th anniversary. Believe it or not, Cameron (director and head of post-production at Vignette) cut his documentary teeth through a year-long fellowship at UTEC back in 2012.
12 years later, we were thrilled not only for the opportunity to work on this project, but for Cameron and the folks at UTEC to enjoy a full-circle moment and celebration of lasting friendship. (Scroll to the last photo to see Cameron and CEO Gregg Croteau ☺️🥲)
Full project will be available to watch on our website soon!
Meet Edgar: rockstar PA who joined us on the road for multiple Amazon Freight Partner shoots this year. While production assistants may be overlooked in this industry, we’d argue the value they bring to set is not to be underestimated. PAs make the world go round!!
Our advice: appreciate your PAs, pay them well, find an Edgar.⭐
Earlier this year we had the pleasure of spending time in highschools across the country, working on a project for Prisms - a company developing STEM curriculum courses through the lens of VR.
A major highlight from this production was the opportunity to connect with the illusive demographic that is teenagers - and moreover, being blown away by their poise, their understanding of the world and their sense of self.
For a moment, it seemed to feel like the kids might actually be, against all odds, alright. 🍎
The sky is the limit this year.
Exciting developments on the horizon include reshaping the South Lake Union waterfront and increased housing and job opportunities propelled by real estate initiatives.
Now is the time to maintain our momentum and take on new challenges.
