Over the years we have amassed thousands of photos and hours of videos of the shows that @vieffertje and I have done with Vervool. But one show I will never forget was in 2018 at the @zurheide.feine.kost gourmet festival. @patrickvvonvacano from @original_beans chocolate, our partner and friend, had asked us to do something special, something audacious and had never been done before.
“Can you make a world record?” He asked us with a German accent. “There will be 1500 people and we want all of their attention.”
“Of course Patrick, not a problem”
Patrick had some friends from Bayern who could make entire bierstubes in a day, so he put them to work to build a table to paint the painting on. He put me in a fancy @lenouveauchef jacket with more sponsor logos than @maxverstappen1
I sent my recipes to the Pastry Shop in Zur Heide, Dusseldorf so that they could help me prepare over 60kg/130lbs of dessert.
Vivienne asked @florianweberofficial to play piano in what turned out a 90 minute improvised masterpiece which inspired me while painting with an insane amount of dessert pieces.
Eventually, we did it. An edible art piece of 40 square meters/ 430 square feet was created because of all the pieces in the machine worked together.
I will remember the year I turned 30 as the year I set a world record: The World’s largest (edible) pastry painting.

This is Vivienne Aerts or @vieffertje ,our female half of Vervool.
Vivi is changing the world. She is making an album with 100 female musicians, technicans and other artists. With every album you buy, you get a bar of @original_beans@originalbeansprof Femmes de Virunga chocolate. This chocolate is made by 1500 female farmers in the deep jungle of @virunganationalpark in DRC. For every bar that Original Beans sells, they plant a tree. Every 70 gram bar of Femmes de Virunga chocolate draws down 250 gram of CO2. It is carbon negative or climate positive. Part of the revenue of this chocolate is used to protect the rainforest and the gorillas that live in it.
This is not charity, it is giving everybody what they deserve.
You get music, the musicians get paid for their music, the farmers get a livable wage for their cocoabeans.
The gorillas and other wildlife get a safer natural habitat.
And we all get an earth with a bit more trees and a little less pollution.
If you want to be part of making the world a better place, pre order Vivienne’s album via the link in bio. And if you are a woman, you can even sing a 5 second part on her album. Just connect through her instagram account.

The boat is still floating ⛵️ A little Current update: Today, pre-orders officially begin, and the vinyl, CDs, and limited artwork made by Natalia Olbinki are finally ready to meet your eyes 🤩
This album began on the water. In the summer of 2025, I transformed my 1951 Dutch mahogany sailboat De Vouw into a floating studio. I traveled through the Dutch waterways, recording voice, electronics, acoustic instruments, and the sounds around us: creaking wood, rippling waves, locks, birds, wind, and all the little surprises that happen when you try to make music outside.
The result is an album about water, movement, deep listening, and learning to move with what surrounds us.
Of course, you can pre-order the digital album. The first track will be shared with pre-order supporters on June 12, and the full album will be released on June 26.
But I also wanted the physical edition to feel like more than just “the music in a package.” I wanted it to feel like an invitation to step into the world of Current. A little travel kit for stillness. Its a collection of things you might need for a journey on the water.
The CD edition comes in a cardboard fold and includes the music, a water map with all the locations where we sailed, a captain’s log printed on handmade paper, a packing list, bird stickers of the birds we saw and recorded, and postcards you can send to your loved ones.
The vinyl edition carries the same spirit. The boat will float around your record player, with a shiny marble texture made by Deepgrooves Vinyl pressing plant. I’m very proud to say that Deepgrooves is the only pressing plant in the world that produces its records as CO2(e) neutral as possible. Alongside the record, you’ll receive the water map and the bird stickers, so you can follow the journey while listening and maybe spot a few feathered collaborators along the way.
More soon, more water, more music.

Sticks & Stones
In vancouver, @tactile_texture taught us how natural dyeing works. Coming back to New York, we set out to work rust and eucalyptus into thick, raw linen canvas. @vieffertje then sowed sticks and stones onto it. An ode to Wabi Sabi. Capturing nature into canvas, like light onto a picture. Nothing lasts forever, all stages of life are beautiful in its own way.

July 7th.. is my birthday… I’ll start a new year. It’s been a crazy few and I have so many things coming up. Starting with the new album I cannot be more excited about. Two weeks on a tiny sailboat… This album is gonna be a journey. Many new songs I wrote about life, peace, balance, water and all the other things we might need.
This past year for me was about choosing myself and venturing into new avenues and creating new things in time and space… and so this coming year, I will share more of it with you.
It’s not easy being an artist, staying with the current times and share whats in your heart. Just keep on breathing. Outside in, inside out, this ship will sail…
Ps. You can still pre-order the album before its too late (link in bio)

“Felt like a writer, might delete later”
Hey everybody! Fun, new thing: I started a substack! I guess you could call it a newsletter-ish blog thingy.
I’ve been writing all sorts of things the past couple of months/years and I want to share them with you, see what people think, see what would be usable in upcoming books, etcetera.
You can expect stories, recipes, poetry and other notes.
You can subscribe to my substack, which is free (for now, I suppose) so you get a little notification and/or email.
I posted one introduction and a recipe already and I intend to post once a week.
You can find the link in bio or in my stories from time to time. It’s tedsteinebach.substack.com
I hope you take the time to read and/or subscribe :)
For now, thanks in advance!
Wishing you big hugs and warmest poffertjes,
Ted

In June of 2017, we organized ChocoJazz Meets De Stijl. We wanted to give our audience something to think about and to create a story or an intention as to why we were serving music and food the way we did. To us, that was the only way we could rectify taking fine dining and songs out of the restaurants and clubs and into the theater.
Our Dutch roots directed us to De Stijl and Piet Mondriaan in particular. People might frown upon modern art and Mondriaan because it lacks human emotion, so our goal was to bring back emotion into the work of Mondriaan, so that next time our audience would see a Mondriaan, they would think: wow, that is such a passionate red. We set out to make four paintings and musical pieces. Vivienne composed and orchestrated four pieces for a brass ensemble that would lay the foundation of her experimental music.
The pictures posted are from the ‘blue part’ of the show. We had long discussions on what blue would sound like. Or how should it taste? As we looked into nature around us, we didn’t find much blue: just the sky and the ocean, which is blue because it reflects the sky.
To us, nature was telling us that blue stood for serenity. The tranquility of being alone in a meadow, looking up and only seeing the sky. Nature was telling us not to interfere too much. I wanted to stay close to nature and its natural flavors and shapes, so I decided to use a lot of fresh berries and herbs. I copied those flavors into sauces and creams and used transparent and pure flavors. Even during the act of painting, I tried to let nature and gravity run their course. To let nature do the talking. Vivienne’s composition stayed close to nature, to create a blue soundscape that felt like the dark blue evening sky, a blue feeling that we know all too well.
