This is an insight into why they are part of our Soggybones family...being a skateboarder is only a fraction of it. The debut episode features Zen, Cruz, and Vai Evans, three brothers from Mandurah, Western Australia, whose lives revolve around family, hard work, and creativity. Raised in a tight-knit household under the guidance of their supportive parents Flick and Dino, the family have built an epic and somewhat chaotic rhythm and sound that is fast paced and genuine, blending blue-collar grind with coastal freedom - from long days on the roof to nights spent skating, surfing, fishing and making music together. Through raw visuals and honest conversations, Off Ply: The Evans Brothers dives into what it means to grow up in Western Australia’s skate culture - balancing work, family, and good times. This episode shows that skateboarding isn’t just a culture we love - it’s a reflection of the people behind it. For the Evans Brothers, skating isn’t what defines them, it’s what connects them. Filmed between Mandurah and Perth, this 15-minute short is a visual ode to brotherhood, balance, family and the life that exists off the ply.

Off Ply | Episode 1: The Evans Brothers Off Ply is a new Soggybones series that looks beyond and behind our team, our family, and their skateboards. It’s about people - their lives, passions, work, struggles, and some of the key shit that helps shape who they are on and off the board. After all, skateboarding can be your life, but there’s always more to both - life and skateboarding that is. Skateboarding shouldn’t define you. It’s just part of who they are and what they do. Off Ply is a look into that bigger picture, the things that matter when the session ends, and the stories that can’t be told through urethane and concrete alone. We’re starting with the Evans brothers - Zen, Cruz, and Vai. Growing up in Mandurah with music and skateboarding in their blood, and with their parents’ support, they’ve built a life that weaves solid family values, music, surfing, school, hard work, and skateboarding.
