Darby left this earth on Tuesday.
To know Darby was to love her. Everyone who ever met her said that she was extraordinary. After she passed, a friend told me it always seemed like at any moment Darby would open her mouth and start speaking to you in human language. Everything about her was radiant and celestial, even in her last days.
Darby was wise, sweet, savvy, funny, beautiful. She loved classical music, birdwatching, sex scenes in movies, her little triangle toy with ribbons on the ends, drinking water from my cups, and belly rubs. She loved Barefoot Dreams blankets, Temptations, eating spider plants, psychedelic rock. She loved licking peoples faces, being high up, basketball, and burrowing under blankets. She despised other cats and having her feet touched. She loved people. She understood 3 languages that I know of. She was profoundly expressive and always meowed back when you spoke to her. Her fur was so soft. She was the whole package.
It is hard to imagine a more perfect cat. It is hard to fathom a life without her. Our paths converged 12 years ago and now that she is gone, I will look for her everywhere. I am so proud of her for everything she was and will be in her next lives. Darby Forever.
