DIRECTORIAL DEBUT BBY 🎥🎥
To be very honest, the main reason I have stopped myself from creating in the past is knowing that ultimately I would’ve been trying to create something that I thought other people would like and whether or not I was proud of what I created would’ve been entirely reliant on how it was received.
I’m so grateful that through recovery I have been able to cultivate an actual sense of trust in my own taste for the first time in my life and was able to create this as an honest manifestation of my own creative impulses and vision.
The result feels so unlike anything I’ve made before and simultaneously the most authentic thing I’ve created.

ADRIAN HOFFMAN / SOMATIC BALLET
ADRIAN HOFFMAN / Adrian (they/he) is a dancer, choreographer and clown based in Los Angeles. They have worked with over 100 choreographers in their professional career spanning stage, film, ad campaigns and television. Previously they have been a company member of Whim W’Him, a guest artist with Mark Morris, Alvin Ailey and BODYTRAFFIC, danced in music videos for Blink-182, Alessia Cara and Justin Beiber among others, ad campaigns for Tinder, Ralph Lauren and Meta and appeared as a featured dancer in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.
SOMATIC BALLET / Somatic Ballet seeks to retrain both the muscles we use in ballet and the mindset that we go into the practice with. Through image based instruction, we will use the medium as a place to experiment, explore our boundaries and integrate the vocabulary into our larger dance lexicon.
