OPI Make ‘Em Jelly Summer 2025
I joined the California Chapter of the Royal House of LaBeija at the start of 2024- the first ever house of ballroom. In the 1960s, Crystal LaBeija created a space of her own after facing racism and colorism in the pageant world. That act birthed a movement that celebrates Black, queer, and trans excellence all around the globe.
It’s an honor to be part of this legacy. I’m a guest in this culture and I don’t take it for granted. I’m so grateful to my California motha @reante.b , fatha @leogrijalva , overseer @kingsofleonidas and the entire LaBeija family for welcoming me with love and support.

Finally all I have to say is that this is a scary time in the world and I constantly feel helpless in the face of increasing violence and bigotry. It feels silly to be posting about my own work but I hope to be the kind of artist who refuses to be silent about the oppression of people worldwide, even if it may cost me a job. Thank you to the West Coast ballroom scene & Black trans lives matter.
