The Elk Rut Ramble drops on youtube Thursday at 7p! I’m really stoked with how this one turned out - still a short film, but a bit longer than the last two. Please head over to youtube, set up premiere notifications, and like and comment once the video goes live. /watch?v=j5hok3oBvEU (clickable in my bio)
The Elk Rut Ramble is a 225-mile bikepacking route based out of Emporium, PA, that follows the roaming range of Pennsylvania’s wild elk herd, combining the possibility of elk encounters with big climbs, dark skies, rich history, expansive public lands, and quiet connections between small mountain communities.

All ready to go! I’m carrying a little less this year, traveling on foot instead of by bike, but I’m excited for another 2.5 weeks on the Camino Portugués!
The Grayson Gravel Traverse is a gravel bike route designed to connect two rail trails on either side of Grayson County. The Virginia Creeper Trail ends at the highest point of the county, White Top, and the New River Trail starts at Fries, one of the lowest points of the county.
This clip is from the beginning of @watt_wagon ’s youtube video recapping her trip a couple years ago! Watch the whole film, “Caboose to Caboose,” to get a sense of the route, linked in stories and our bio.
West Virginia just got an epic new curated route network and we’re so excited to host all 66 routes on Ride with GPS.
🏕️The Appalachian mountains of the Mon are home to a diverse landscape of high spruce plateaus, deep river valleys, remote backcountry, and thousands of miles of pristine gravel roads.
* Routes from 10 miles to 600 miles for a total of 4,800 miles of routes
* Gradual rail-trail grades to challenging routes full of steep Appalachian climbs
* 11 Signature Bikepacking Routes and even more overnighter options
* 12 ‘Ride to the Mon’ routes linking surrounding regional hubs and trails such as the Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Canal into the network
* Collections of routes from each of the 12 Mon Forest Towns
☕ Most routes pass through at least one of the twelve Mon Forest Towns, offering opportunities to resupply, grab a meal, or spend the night before heading back into the mountains.
👏 Huge shout out to the groups that brought this network to life. Head over to RWGPS, save a collection or two, and start planning your next trip to WV!

Episode 55 is live! Israel or Palestine? Damascus, Syria or Damascus, Virginia? West Virginia or Western Virginia? To David Landis, all are points on a map. David has made it his mission to find shared humanity across borders, even in conflict zones like the Middle East, through hiking and bikepacking trails. Having first visited the Middle East for a semester abroad during his university studies, David returned there to live for almost a decade. During his travels in the region, David experienced the incredible kindness of people he met, with several becoming lifelong friends. He’s also felt the sorrow of having some of those friends or their relatives killed in violent episodes that continue throughout the Middle East. As someone who has tried long-distance hiking, bicycle touring, and bikepacking racing (surviving waist-deep snow and concrete-like "death mud" on the grueling Tour Divide), David has come to the conclusion that, somehow, it’s all about the people and building trails that connect them.

My new short film, “Magic in the Endless Mountains” drops tonight at 7pm on the @v2vtrails YouTube channel.
It’s a documentary about the 205 @endlessgravel_pa Grand Depart, telling the story of the riders, landscape, and wonderful locals we met along the way. I spent the week riding around on my Onewheel and having a blast, and I’m stoked to finally share it.
It’s definitely a short film, not even 5 minutes long, so please pop over to YouTube, linked in my bio, and watch the dang thing! Let me know what you think, please. If you like what you see, stay tuned for more coming soon!
