Explore how discarded materials can be transformed through art. Don’t forget to bring something to repair! Spring on the U.S. East Coast means warmer waters, migrating wildlife, and unfortunately a surge of plastic washing from streets and rivers into the ocean after seasonal rains. 🌊 Our family of baby hammerheads are sculpted by @cindypeaseroe using 100% marine plastic: shopping bags, sandbags, rope, straws, and miscellaneous pieces. Valentine’s Day, but make it plastic-free 💐 These vases were made in the UpSculpt studio from recycled glass + reclaimed marine rope, then filled with flowers by @bantamblooms . Instead of buying new this year, try it at home: reuse glass jars or bottles, wrap with scrap rope, fabric, or twine, and turn what you already have into something beautiful! Plastic-free Valentine’s tip: skip cellophane wrap, glitter, and plastic cards! Choose loose flowers, recycled paper, handwritten notes, or experiences.
